I've started researching speakers the past week. I haven't the slightest idea of what I am looking at, though. I need something wireless/bluetooth as I do not want any wires. Any links to some recommendations?

I'm open to something cheap... Like $600ish?

I have this one
It's a pretty good deal if you don't have a bluray already because its included. Like I said, it's not the best out there but it only cost me $250 because it was part of a package deal when I got my TV. It does have a wireless transmitter built into it but the speakers don't have receivers, you need to buy one of these for each set of two speakers that you want wireless.

I would check places like CNET to see what's currently the best value.

See I already have a nice Blu-Ray player. Thats the Dilemma I am running into when I try to research...they always bundle with a Blu-Ray. Do they just sell the damn wireless speakers? GRR!! lol

Wireless speakers are pretty hard to find because they don't work all that well. (Bad sound quality and range. Easily interfered with by phones, wireless internet etc) If you are up to mounting a tv I would just run cables to wired speakers. Remove baseboard - run speaker wire - replace baseboard. Or - even easier if there are no doorways in the way - pull the carpet up around the edges and run speaker wire.

Plus I am NOT a fan of Panasonic, Samsung, Sony HTiB 'recievers'. They lack inputs, outputs, power, speaker options, thend to come with passive subs....

For $600 you can get a really nice HT setup. The Take Energy speakers are great and IIRC around $130. Get a nice Denon or Onkyo receiver for $300ish and a sub and that system will blow that Panasonic or a Samsung HTiB out of the water

Thanks for the info. I might go with your baseboard Idea. I'd do the carpeting thing, but the woman and I have been talking about pulling the carpet and getting hardwood floors.

Thanks again chief.

No problem! If you want some more ideas about speakers and receivers feel free to ask or join us in the A/V section as there are a lot of really good options out there and a lot of crap options out there in the same price range.

Cool! I was going to do something similar except above our gas fireplace. I'm not sure how I'm going to route the cable through the walls just yet :(

avsforum.com!

Heh - I would take that place in small doses otherwise you will get addicted and then start planning out a dedicated home theatre room and figuring out how long you can go without eating to afford a better projector and speakers
