Hey guys, I'm kind of excited, I just finished my first cae mod to my antec P160 case. Click here to download a "zip" file with some pics in it:

This mod was out of necessity really, My Proc kept overheating and stalling always running at ~45C Idle and ~55-60C at Load. I cut this breather hole in the case and it dropped my temps down to ~25 idle and ~35-40C Load. I can't recommend a mod of this type enought for the Antec P160 case. I have 2 120mm fans in it and a spare 80mm fan just slowing on the video card and it was still putting up those high temps before the mod.

(Running Athlon 64 FX-51, 1.5GB PC2100, ATI 9800Pro AIW, 3 HDD's (inc. 1 WD Raptop 74GB, WD2000, & WD1600)

Let me know what you think. i'm pretty happoy with how it turned out. Did it all with a ghetto Wal-Mart mini hack saw and my dremel tool. There is typical vinyl screen covering the holes to filter out most big stuff. What I wouldn't give for a water jet cutting tool after going thourh all the trouble doing this by hand.

Oh yeah, lights inside are new as of this mod as well.

Mod looks nice but I agree, get rid of the rat's nest... this is more about functionality than pure looks but will give you an idea of what's possible with the P160 as far as wire routing goes.

I dunno if this is a good idea or not, but you can use c-strips to go around the cut areas. That would cover any of the uneven cuts, if there are any.

Nice mod. Is the center square stable? It kinda looks like if i poke it with my finger, it will fall into your graphics card.

Oops, blanks post 😛 Yes the center square is 100% stable, you would need a hammer or something to beat it hard enough to break off, even then its got the screen stopping that, so there are no worries there. About the C-strips, I bought some small black rubber tubing at Lowes, and tried slicing it, but it looked like crap so I settled for carefully placed electrical tape around the edges. Doesn't look half bad even up close.

I know I need to eliminate some cable clutter in there. (Thanks for the link!) I've upgraded to all round IDE and floppy cables, and am waiting to grab up a nice PSU with "plug as you need em" connectors.
