I'm a bit pissed that i have to pay for Ranger mode?
I finished it on original mode on normal difficulty, great experience, and a big improvement over 2033 even though i enjoyed it equally!

My Radeon HD 7770 delivered impressive frame rates in this game too at high settings with 16xAF and normal tesselation, 1920x1080. I occasionally hit 27FPS but in very intense scenes, and was soon back to my 36FPS average frame rare, with some indoor areas being at 50-60frames.
I incidentally never got any kind of mouse input lag which made the lowish frame rate fantastic.

If only 2033 was this well optimized :/

This game is so damn good looking, you don't even need it on Very High with max tesselation and SSAA to get an amazing looking game with Last Light, 11/10 one of the best experiences on PC IMO.

Coincidentally, I'm starting Last Light this weekend. Loved Metro 2033, so really looking forward to it.

I agree. Last Light is SP linear FPS done right.

I hope to see more from this studio.

OP: Just to clarify....you're talking about Metro Last Light Redux right (where they went back and made everything better)?

I'm about to wrap up Last Light Redux. I bought the bundle a few weeks ago for $8. Have been playing the series as one big game. Pretty sad that I'm almost done with. Amazing linear FPS. I prefer open world stuff, but for being on rails (no pun intended), Metro is pretty damn good.

I have a GTX970OC and an i7. Looks gorgeous!

I never played the original version.

2033 > Last Light

Redux > Original

Fortunately I feel the difference between the original 2033 and LL is lost on me since I only played the REDUX versions. And they recycled many of the HD textures from LL and used them to pretty up 2033, so my experience between the two feels more like one big game without any major difference.

Cliffs: It's all just 'Metro' to me at this point.

I'm hoping to finally beat LL tonight. I've just gotten to 'Garden' map which I think is about the 2nd to last level or something.

I actually liked both games quite a lot, sure they're linear but they're well crafted single player experience not unlike the seemingly quite old HL2-esque experiences we seem to have less of these days.

I intend to go back and play these games in 4k at some point soon, in large part just for the eye candy.

Both are great games, the beginning of Last Light sucked with the hand holding, but I thought they got away with it because of the character your are with and the areas you go through were interesting.

The best parts of the game for me were the outdoor areas(go figure! the indoor areas were still great though) and the cave system. The swamp level where time transitions from late afternoon to pitch black was one best of the experiences I've had in a game, and the outdoor weather effects were really high quality that immensely improved the atmosphere especially on the bridge level.

I love me some Soviet/Russian flavored game visuals. The Metro series have sold quite well, so I expect much more from 4A. It's too bad GSC closed up shop so we will never see STALKER 2, unless 4A somehow is able to pick up the rights considering the founders were part of GSC long ago.\

I haven't played the Redux versions since I bought 2033 and LL when they first came out. LL certainly does play much better than 2033, but it's hard to forget 2033 as it was the first foray in it's setting, which sucked you in really quick. Though, I found it incredibly weird hearing voice actor Steven Blum voice half the people in the game, even with slight variations of accents and all :awe:

I liked 2033 much better but still LL was pretty cool nonetheless. I played and beat it in Ranger mode, never even tried any other difficulty. The big problem for me was I thought the game was too short and a bit too easy, I used the classic AI exploit...hide around a narrow corner and wait as each enemy comes in 1 by 1 as I make a huge pile of corpses, at least in certain parts of the game.
I did the same thing in MG ground zeros, killing almost every enemy at the entire base from 1 position, amongst tons of other games...AI really needs to advance a bit more.

Crysis 3 has JUST as good if not better graphics...

But it's not a fun game to actually play though. There lies the problem.

Yeah it took me back to Goldeneye on the N64 at times, but i was on Normal in original mode since i do not have the Ranger mode DLC.

This game just went on sale on Steam for $4.99. I haven't even played Metro 2033 yet, so I'm not sure I should just BYASGOS (Buy Yet Another Steam Game On Sale at this point. I've found less and less time to game recently.
