Well, I know that I am late to the party on that one..... One hell of a game, probably one of the best horror FPShooters that I have played in a while. The atmosphere was excellent, the sound was superb, the story at a high level is rather silly, but it was presented in an excellent way. One of the few FPShooters that did not cause me to lose interest.
I did not encounter a single bug in F.E.A.R. 1 and Creative's Alchemy allowed me to enjoy the horror sound effects in EAX within Windows 7 without incident.
The graphics were good even for today, best shadows that I have witnessed in games thus far.
This game is what Doom 3 should have been.
Now, I hear that Monolith treats the two expansion packs as never happening, on to F.E.A.R. 2 then, once the price drops and patches are issued. Unless this is a situation where playing the sequel will cause ruin to my memories of the first game, but at least Monolith made the sequel. I have not played the expansion packs, likely will not... unless they are on the same level as the original game?
