I thought that was the best of the 1st four. I haven't read the last three yet.

Wizards and Glass was just an incredible example of a great storyteller.

I still like The Gunslinger the best so far, but this one was good. About 1/3 of the way through, when they were setting up the back story, I was getting bored with it and wanted them to get back to 'real time', but about half way through it got really interesting.

Book V is staring at me from the bookshelf....but I have too much to do I shouldn't be starting it yet. Bah!

Yeah...I've got V, VI, and VII but all of them are First Edition, First Printing (VII is even the Artist Edition) and still in the shrinkwrap...afraid to even look at them.

Waiting on some paperback versions so I can actually read them. ;)

I've read them all, and although they were all great books, I sort of get attached to characters in books in a way. And I can never read this series again. The ending was great, just too much for me.

oops, sorry, misread that. Though you said VI. VI was where it started to suck for me.

VII is awesome.

I have about 100 pages left in book 7. I expect to finish it this weekend. I'm pumped, but also kinda sad. I mean hell, I think I started reading this series back in the mid 80s with the Gunslinger. Kinda attached to it, ya know?

That was the worse ending I have ever read. In fact, it was almost enough to negate the good parts of the entire Dark Tower series, IMO.

After reading the series, I spent the longest time trying to decide whether I actually liked the ending or not. I knew I felt strongly about it, but I couldn't figure out which way =).

I like it now. I found it a fitting end to his series - King isn't a typical writer, so I grant him more license than I would other authors.

I'm a bit more then half way through the last one. King is a god among writers.

About 3/4 through Wolves of the Calla right now. Great book. A couple years ago I dropped the series because I couldn't make it through the third book. But I picked it up again at the beginning and now I can't stop. Great series.

Dont' bother. Enjoy the first ~5 books for what they are. It's like the Matrix - a great series if you ignore 2 & 3. ;)

Not to troll the thread, but I couldn't get into a single one of these books. They all seemed terrible. :(

I really hated the Harry Potter stuff in Wolves.

I loved the series...I thought it dragged on V&VI, but loved the series ending (although I was sad it was over). The first book is still my favorite, because it was before King had to spell out every single thing for you. There was mystery and it required some imagination.

I'd love to reread the whole series again, wish I had the time.

I'm not the OP, but I just wanted to stop by to say that I finished book 7 last night.

A masterpiece. Anyone who "hates" the ending sucks, and/or has no imagination.
