I'm happy 🙂
And I would like to express my extreme gratitude to the members here who'd helped me by replying to my noobie's threads about building my PC. Most notable are Thugsrook and EeyoreX.

So, without further ado, here' my new rig:

Antec Performace 1080AMG with 430W PS
Asus P4G8X Deluxe motherboard
P4 2.53GHz at stock speed
2 x 512MB PC2700 Kingston HyperX RAMs
160GB + 200GB maxtor HDDs
50x CD-ROM + Yamaha CRW-F1 burner
ATi Radeon 9700 Pro
Sound Blaster Audigy 2
Klipsch Promedia 5.1 speakers
Gyratron wireless keyboard and mouse
Dell 1800FP LCD

I'm so proud of myself 🙂

wow nice system!

i have been building my own system since my parents stoped giving me the old systems they had. wich was around the 486. the first system i built was a 486 at 25mhz i belive.

its easy to do! I actually enjoy putting systems together. granted installing the software is a pain in the ass.

i need to upgrade. my 1.4gig T-bird is to slow now :frown:

but who did you order parts from?

omg, sweet system...I'd also like to know the final total price...before and after rebates, if you wish. 🙂

Congrats, it's a great feeling.....now you'll start to understand what we mean by the "upgrade" bug. ^_^

Since everybody seems to want to know the price for the system, here's the breakdown:

Asus motherboard: $195 from axiontech.com
p4 2.53 GHz: 125 from overseas
200GB maxtor: 220 from compusa
160GB maxtor: 100 from staples
yamaha burner: 80 from microcenter
cd-rom: free from a friend 🙂
antec case w/ PS: 90 from local fry's
radeon 9700 pro: 260 from best buy (open box item but inside was brand new, just didn'thave the plastic covering the box) <- bought when the card was still selling for 400
audigy 2: 75: open box item but again, was brand new inside
RAM: 150 from googlegear
klipsch PM5.1: 260 display item from bestbuy, comes with full warranty from klipsch. I talked to klipsch csr to confirm.
Dell LCD: 415 from dell sb
mouse + keyboard: 110 from micro center

It's about 2000 that I spent, but then again, I did buy some of the items retail price because I didn't know anandtech existed 🙁
I bought everything within 3 months period because I had to buy everything piece by piece whenever I had the fund.

Congrats! 🙂 I had the same feeling when I successfully built my Athlon XP 1800+ box a couple of years ago, with advice from the AT community.

Now wait till all your friends and associates want you to build machines for them, and they don't want to pay you much money for doing it, and you end up doing them a favor and paying dearly for it by having them call you for the next 5 years for tech support.

If anyone asks you if you build machines, so NO.

Unless it's a hot chick, then call her every so often to do "upgrades"
