I started this project 2 months ago. At that time I didn't even know how to install videocards etc.

Heheh I'm on it right now so as you can see it was a success.

Specs:
Amd A64 3700 san diego
DFI ultra-D NF4
Mactor 160gig
1gig value vx ocz
Chenming black tower dragon case w/ 4 blue led fans
Enermax 535 watt 2.0 sli ready
X850XT

It more or less went without a hitch except the first time I plugged the power on thing backwards. Also I had to not use dual channel since windows no likey.

Overall it was a great experience.

Thanks to many members of the anandtech forum and especially mechbgon.

Thanks to Gamefaqs dos/windows board especially to HETT, Plasma Machine, Sheograth, and Philosopher Dirtbike.

Hehe, I still can't figure out how to get the lights on in the front of my case after my first build less than a year ago. :)

Good job.

:D. Glad you enjoyed it :).
The thing that really annoyed me when I built was ... ugh ... those god damn USB headers. They come from my case 1 by 1, and they're TINY. Took me 15 minutes to connect them with my big fingers. I read up later that... erm... pryers help ;).

Since the lights in your case are likely LEDs they only work with power one way - it may be as simple as reversing the leads on the motherboard.

To the OP, congratulations! Making your first PC is an interesting and rewarding experience. By the system specs it looks like you did it right the first time too!

You should have no problem using dual channel with that configuration. Motherboards can be picky about RAM, especially in dual channel... e.g. some motherboards want dual channel sticks in slots with the same color, some want them in different colored slots. Consult your manual's memory section about the correct DIMMS to use for two sticks in dual channel.

Oh yeah, congrats on the build, and good luck in your future endeavors :).

Sweet rig, how much did you spend? Six months ago right before I started doing research for this build I though bigger hard drive = faster comp so I always got the biggest hard drived HPs. :)
