Well... I bought a used samsung laptop drive on ebay and it arrived on monday. I put it in and it wouldn't boot and i hooked it up externally and it won't power on. The seller said it was tested and a final sale... even though it's a dispute for 30 bucks... how likely will i be able to get my money back?

Did the seller give a non DOA promise? How you even tried contacting him after getting it or did you just file a dispute anyway?

If you go on for long enough, you can get it back (as it's the first one)

1.Contact support, say to them, I wish to write a letter in person to the head of the Executive Escalations Department, or just someone above normal support, and you would like to know the address to write to.

2.Write a letter to them, with your evidence and so on.

3. ...

4. Eventually, you may PROFIT

(Yes profit, worked for me, I made £20! (LONG story))

Oh i contacted him twice. All I was asking was just for him to refund me partially for the shipping charges since I was going to be RMA-ing the drive... He said drive is in working condition... but then at the end he said FINAL SALE.

here's a link to the auction...

I've never had any problems and I'd hate to leave negative feedback... I'm going to wait until as long as possible in hopes that this gets resolved.

The bolded FINAL SALE text leads me to believe he knew the drive was bad. Also, that being there hurts your chances of getting anything.

i've been looking all over for a small laptop HD! and plus it was for a 40 giger... plus the warranty is still valid and i got an RMA # from samsung already. all i want is just a partial refund.. if not then hey, it's still a nice deal!

I really hate eBay and Paypal! I sold a Samsung 930B LCD on there with delivery confirmation though the USPS. The delivery is shown as delivered yet the guy said he did not receive it. Paypal still pulled the money out for him. Grrrrrr!!! Oh well, I did put $400 insurance on it, so I'll explore that route.

thanks for the link! i'm going to RMA the samsung i got from the seller and it'll only cost me the shipping, so a new/refurb 40 gig for less than 40 isn't so bad =] I just wanted to let the seller know that he's doing some horrible practice in regards to selling broken stuff.

This one is touchy. He doesn't guarantee against DOA, but he does clearly indicate final sale.

IMO, you should need to prove that the drive wasn't working before he shipped it or that he didn't pack it sufficiently to protect against damage during shipment.

I read his auction as "if you get it and it doesn't work, then I am not going to help you". The fact that he says he tested it and it was working is irrelevant.

Let me guess, you did not add signature confirmation, did you? If you would've read seller protection policy it clearely states that in order to be protected from fraudulent buyers you must add signature confirmation in addition to DC for any item over $250.00
