My X850 radeon died and I slapped in a 6200 LT with half the video memory (256 -> 128) What problem does this pose? And what's the best budget 256mb card for pci-e?
 
I'd be more concerned that the card is several times slower than the X850 than the amount of memory on it.

For a budget card you could look at the 7600GT or even one of the 8600s.
 
Having less texture memory means you'll have to turn your texture resolution down to aviod swapping in newer games that use a lot of texture memory, and having a much slower card means you'll need to turn most other stuff down quite a bit as well.
