Hi all... as I've said, I put my setup all together, got everything running nice and stable, but with one problem. If I take the CPU speed off of the default ">=1300/100fsb" setting, the system will not boot or even post.

If I clear the cmos after doing this, it boots up fine, and when I change it back to the aformentioned setting, it's fine. Now, I don't even want more mhz, I just want to change the setting from x14/100fsb to x10.5/133fsb.

I haven't done any unlocking as I thought at one point I had heard that all of the 1.4 athlons came unlocked anyways. Anyone know where I'm going wrong here? By the way, I'm using the newest bios from abit's webpage, and it's a version 1.00 board.

If you have the 1400/200 Athlon then it will only work at >=1300 or 1400/100(200) because it's locked that way.

Not too familar with your Abit board, but on my Asus A7V133, you have to use the JUMPER to overclock an UNlocked cpu. For example, on my 1.1 (11 x 100MHz fsb) cpu, it would NOT allow me to adjust multiplier in SoftMenu. I had to do it with Jumpers. I switch to 9 x 133MHz fsb. So far so good.

See, that's exactly what I was thinking. The thing that gets me is it won't boot off of anything except 1400/100, including other speeds at 100fsb... weird stuff, eh?

Im not sure, but I think the 1.4 Ghz 100 Mhz FSB Athlon Tbirds are locked.
Since most of(maybe all) the KT133A based mobos dont have 14x multiplier.
Thats why its booting at 1400 Mhz in any setup.
I dont know what happens if you unlock it. I dont know if worth the trouble to.
Just try to exchange for an 1.4 Ghz 266 Mhz FSB.

Good luck!
