btw, i think donate blood is something to be proud of, but not to brag :p

So you take pictures of it? Sounds like bragging.

I donate platelets which requires about an hour and half and I have a needle in each arm. I am approaching the four gallon mark on that. Well most of that is platelets but some whole blood in there too; they like my platetlets more due to some antigen I have, or don't have, or something like that.

My veins almost makes me look like I am a junkie due to the scaring.

most people don't know i am a regular donor. some do, they think i am crazy for donating every 2months. seriously, i don't like to go around and tell everyone how many times i have donated. online forum is a different story ;)

i will be doing plasma once i get a car.
never interests in platelets, it takes too long.

I started off doing whole blood. I am O+, so nothing too special there. However for kicks I started to do this cycle thing where you would do platelets, wait 48 hours, do platelets again, wait 48, do whole blood, then wait the 56 days (or whatever it is).
For whatever reason they like my platelets more so than my whole blood. I have some antigen, or I don't have it or something makes my platelets ideal for children and cancer patients so I just do that now and days.

The kicker is, though, my platelet count is relatively low so it takes my quite a bit of time on the machines.

I am also on the bone marrow donation list. To be honest I don't want to go thru the procedure to donate bone marrow (heard it is not too friendly), but I would do it just because I am that type of guy.

I don't know how you feel about it, but I actually get kind of ticked off when people confuse me donating my blood/platelets with selling my plasma for cash. There are so many damned selfish people out there that can not understand the idea of doing things to help other people and not expecting anything in return.

The way I figure it, I do not have the money to donate to organizations, so donating platelets is my form of 'charity' in a way.
