A request for codec seems to be requested, the codec was downloaded, but all I get is sound!!!!

Damn this was 36 Meg... 🙁

Help!!!

You by chance didn't do a divx encoding did you? If not what did you do exactly?...It may require you to install the codec yourself...

What version of Windows Media Player are you running. If you don't have the most recent (7.0?) then you might want to get that and try it.

actually if it is divx I have mine working fine with the wmp version 6.4...I have heard reports that some of the newer versions may have problems playing them...maybe an attempt by MS to squeeze out the free source code...

their are a bunch of divx like codecs floating around, you just have to try installing them untill you get the right one

go here and get the codecs.

I got the Divx 3.11 and the SMR codec and I can play just about anything I find.
don't bother with WMP 7.0 . It is too bloated.

Thanx ppl. I'll give the DivX drivers. I am using WMP 7 cos I'm using WinME. However. Got WMP6.4 also.

😉

Edit

Krystal Studio DivX seemed to solve it. Thanx again 🙂...Oh, and the video was crap....LOL 😀

i found a few avi's/mpg's to not play right in 6.4... this is not divx tho, some other codec. it would not download and install properly in 6.4. I use 7.1, and i don't see any huge problem with it.. i didn't do a compare for memory/cpu usage tho.. but using the same interface for both, don't notice that bloat.

bluemax, is it impossible to uninstall like direct x without some type of special cleaner program?

I heard reported many people were just staying with wmp 6.4 for some reasons mentioned here....

Shagga...not everyone has high quality standards in creating divx movies...I have encoded tons of the trailers and they usually run around 30-40megs for like 2-3 minutes for 640x480 lowmotion codec 2000kbits/sec and mp3 at like 128kbits...my full movies I encode at 512x384 with about same bitrate and can get a 2hr movie on 2 disc...look great!!! even on monitor w/ resolution of 1280x and zoom to full screen..send out to TV from vid card and it looks pretty damn good.

low motion codec at 600kbits can fit full movies on 1 cd but tend to look a little better then good vcd IMO from my testing..

@600, i did the matrix in widescreen (don't remember the size, but it was something from one of those guides).. i just cropped the black bars off. but the quality was so bad tho.
