Getting 1100 or so back from federal. I don't file state at all.

Woulda had them done yesterday, but the D0D MyPay website posted 2003's W-2s instead of 2004s on 14 Jan. :(

Would have filed already, but waiting on my W-2. Hoping for about $500 back this year.

I'm a Michigan resident. AD Military members who are Michigan resident's don't pay MI State income tax. :)

Neither do AD Texan residents, for that matter. You wouldn't believe how many tech school students I know change their residency to TX to avoid paying state income taxes. Those who didn't kicked themselves when they PCSed to a base in a state that did. :p

I just got my W-2s today. I usually wait until the very last minute to do it, because I'm just like that. I always get a refund, but I just can't get excited over money.

But Texas doesn't have a state income tax anyway.

I need to get 4 W2s (I switched jobs, and my wife works as a cotnractor and part-time worker), about 4 1099s (brokerages, banks, etc), a bunch of forms about mortage interest, etc, etc, etc... Hopefully, I'll finish collecting papers by mid-Feb.

That I didn't know . . . probably another reason why so many people changed their state of residency. :)

Can't speak for Michigan, but the Texas folks don't pay state taxes not because they are active duty, but because they are Texas residents. Sounds the same as what you are saying but it's not.

This is how it is that Florida has so many military absentee voters. Remember those voters from 2000?

edit to say that I must type really slow 'cause ya'll pretty much just covered what I was getting at

Anyone file on the 14th (turbotax online) and still waiting for the State portion to go through? My federal was accepted on the 15th. My Louisiana return is still processing....
