I almost was around age 13. Then I had my eardrum rebuilt along with a massive infection scraped from the bone surrounding. Probably don't hear as well as I can, but at least I do.
 
Just my right ear. The eardrum ruptured when I was about 10 years old... 🙁

The only benefit is that when I sleep on my left side, I hear nothing. Which is nice when the person beside me snores or wants to watch television when I want to sleep...
