Just curious...

After looking at one of the threads posted in here to be locked and rereading the Hot Deals forum rules, why are tobacco (and alcohol products, I'm assuming) banned from being listed as hot deals? If someone finds some really nice stogies for cheap why not share the news? Or some expensive wine for cheap? Just curious, not trying to stir up any trouble here.

Typically I'd post the beer emoticon but in the context of this thread and for the best interest of keeping it serious enough to get an answer from someone who knows, I'll leave it at a smiley. :)

I believe its b/c of the vast range of ages here and the fact that there are large # of people under the age of 18.

I guess, but at the same time, those of us who are underage wouldn't exactly be able to buy the stuff unless we got ahold of our parents bank card or credit card, and even then it'd be hard to explain to them why a charge showed up from beer4less.com or wherever. :p

i think its a good idea.
other than general spamming troubles that may occur, i dont think it could be abused without a whole crap load of effort.
although, i remember being underage and going through a whole crap load of effort to get some things.
so...
its probably safer these days than dealing with anandtech possibly being liable for underagers getting their hands on it.

underage ppl who are determined to get ahold of booze will do so no matter if a hot deal on an internet forum is posted or not. I'd like to see some of these hot deals/coupons... if it is not against the rules for some other reason.

:)

I think that's kinda why I thought about it. Hot deals on alcohol/tobacco products? That's just something you've gotta see to believe.
