Do they pay the Israeli Govt. for the land or do they just go out there and lay claim to a piece of stolen land?

israel won the land via 1967 war.

1. the arabs had control.
2. they decided to invade israel.
3. they lost.
4. israel gained new territory.
5. the arabs cried foul.
6. the arabs want their land back.

Does that make sense to you?

To be fair, the land really didn't belong to the arabs (in this case, egypt and jordan). They were supposed to hold it until the palestinians could form their own gov't. but when the proxies lost, they couldn't care less because it was no real lost on their part. israel, however, tired of all the wars since its creation, decided to hold on to the land and use it as a bargaining chip for future peace with the arabs. the land was NEVER stolen. technically, israel can do whatever it wants to do with the land, including returning it to the Palestinians.

God made everything so it belongs to him... ya can't very well steal from God. He, God, told Moses to go live there and since then it has been the land of the Jew (God's chosen people). As soon as I can find the link to the surveyor who drew up the boundaries for God in this matter I'll be in a position to determine who should live where. Until then, however, we have the UN findings that set up the state of Israel... the balance belongs to the nomadic tribe of Palestinians who own the land by squatter right. The victor in war does not necessarily extend more than the right to govern.

Well, it has been the case in some instances that Israel has paid Israelis to build in some settlements.

As a show of good faith, Israel gave back a ton of land they won fair and square in previous wars of aggression waged by its Arab neighbors. But you know, the suicide bombers didn't pause for a moment, so that's what good faith gets ya.

In 1967, Israel simultaneously attacked Egypt, Syria and Jordan in a "pre-emptive strike" against the Arab troops along its borders. Israel captured key pieces of land, such as the strategic Golan Heights to the north on the border with Syria, to the West Bank from Jordan and the Gaza strip from Egypt. In fact, Israel more than doubled its size in the six days that this war took place. Since then, negotiations have been around returning land to pre-1967 states, as required by international law and UN resolutions.

Correction, Israel simultaneously attacked Egypt, Syria, and Jordan in a "preemptive strike" against Arab troops which were amassing along the border in an intimidating manner, just as they had done before attacking Israel the last time.

Israel returned the Sinai to Egypt as part of the Camp David Accords. And I'm sure that any source must be neutral and balanced which espouses views such as:

Most of the settlers are low income Israeli citizens who were attracted by very low interest mortgages, tax breaks and small business venture capital. According to Peace Now (The Israeli peace movement) most of the settlers are not religious nationalists but simply people looking for easier lives who are lured by government incentives. It's quiet smart on Israel's part because as long as they maintain the settlements and people's lives become dependent on it, as the time passes it becomes harder and harder for the settlements to be removed. I bet many of them would move back to where they came from if Israel offered the same incentives outside of the illegal settlements but since that is not likely to happen people will object to moving out of the homes that they could not afford otherwise.

still, there are laws to abide by. if someone comes into your house and takes your tv while you're at work, does that mean they get to keep it?

israel signed the peace accord which meant they had to withdraw back to the original 1967 border didn't they? something which they've totally ignored.
