3 feet is horrible, we had 3 feet of normal snow about 5 years ago which set a record for snowfall in my area. There's nowhere to put it after a while, when you need to shovel the mounds are over your head. And that's not all that bad compared to what's possible. Some areas of the Upper Peninsula in Michigan can get 6-8 feet of lake effect snow in a single event and 25+ feet in a winter. HTF can a town cope with 25 feet of snow? Hell, how do you get out of your house to start digging out from 6-8 feet of snow? Climb out an upstairs window maybe, your doors probably won't open.
here's 2 pics I took during the height of the snowsqualls in 2010: check out the guy shovelling across the street.

Wow that looks about like what we got, if more. Finally went to open up my driveway and clear my truck today. Still sick so was not fun to do but had to be done since it's suppose to warm up. I've been hating this winter, it's too much up and down temp wise.

That was from 2010. I edited in the year so people can see when that happened.

Lake effect snow is a special kind of hell. If you live in an area that gets lake effect, I assume the weather is shit there anyway. Then you get a ton of extra snow on top of it.

Fuck snow. I woke up this morning to a large, VERY bright light shining through my bedroom window.

MAYBE I can get outside and work on my planter boxes and raised beds today.

If I lived in an area that got lake effect snow I'd shoot myself. Some towns in upstate New York are approaching and might surpass 4 FEET from this current "storm".
You learn to deal with it over the years i guess.
In normal years the lake(Erie) freezes over & you don't have to worry about it as much. I can remember a few really bad storms but generally most storms don't put down more than say a foot or so in a 12 hour period.

Well...thar large bright light didn't last very long...and it never warmed up much...maybe mid-40's...bur clouded up and stayed gray. More rain incoming...for most of next week. At this rate, I MIGHT get stuff planted by the 4th of July...

Honestly I'll take the snow over the rain. At least you can still do stuff outside in the snow without getting soaked and being miserable.

spring is slowly coming along. Still rather cool and windy but not bad. Should get rain for Tuesday.

Been warm here too, snow is starting to melt, though it's been doing that on and off for a while. It's still too early to call it though I'm sure we have plenty of storms left still.

Our low was 19F at 8AM and it warmed up to 64F at 4PM today. Gotta love March weather. If you don't like the weather just wait 5 minutes.
