I've been waiting patiently for my new adda 50 mm fan and when I just went to install it a few minutes ago.. Snap! I broke the casing on this thing. That's $8 down the tube!

I'm always careful with stuff like this and never had a fan snap on me before. Why couldn't this happen to the broken fan that I had before? I looked at the casing closely on the Adda and it's not very well designed. Even the cheap fans have some sort of reinforcement on the thin part of the casing.

Oh well..

I just wanted to let everyone know that Tony Ou at Pham Computer is just awesome! I sent him an email yesterday about the fan and he promptly wrote me back saying that he'd send me out a new fan and even include postage back for the cracked fan. What an awesome guy!

I only wish that Dell was this good. After waiting for nearly an hour on the phone yesterday and being transferred twice, I decided to try out email hoping that it would be quicker. Wrong! I sent out one email and got an automated response. I read it over briefly and just ignored it because it wasn't my problem.

I didn't hear back from anyone and read through all the crap and finally got to a section that said to reply to this message if this didn't fix my problem. Doh! So.. I replied and finally got a message back saying that I was contacting the wrong department even though I was talking to someone in customer care. Instead of contacting csd@dell.com, I was supposed to contact support@dell.com. And it's so well marked on their site too. ;)

Anyway.. The guy at csd referred me off to the support dept. and I have yet to hear anything from them. Not even an automated response letting me know that they got the message.

Damn.. It's a good thing that Dell gives you 30 days because it's going to take that long to get through to someone. I personally think old Michael Dell is spreading himself a bit thin with the layoff's.

Sorry that this turned into a venting post. ;)
