Just completed my Thinkpad. Total cost: $20

Awesome. Just got my Thinkpad 600 all finished. I fished a body out of the trash at school, and paid $20 for a complete machine that was kind of screwed up, and assembled them to get one complete machine. I'm happy.

However, I can't get the 98 install disk to work... anybody know why this might be? It get to the point where I can choose to boot from CD or HDD, I choose CD and it goes to a blinking cursor and nothing else. Could it be a locked HDD?

Is booting from a floppy not an option? If memory serves, the 600 has a universal bay for either a floppy drive, or an optical drive.

I beleive you're right, but I don't own said floppy drive. However, the school that I salvaged the parts from has a pile of the external ones, so I may be able to borrow one to get the job done.
