If you download the demo from steam you will auto update with the benchmark .

I ran it @ 1600x1200 with all settings maxed with 4x AA 16x AF and got 32.88 fps avg with stock gpu.
I got 38.26 avg., with my 5750 overclocked.

It's a very good game.:D

? hmmm ok. Now everyone knows.:\

Howd you score Toyota?

I have the full game. I didn't know about the demo and benchmark.
yeah there has been a benchmark in the demo for over a month. I even posted in this thread that started on 3/19. http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1195861

its only one benchmark map in the demo though where I believe the full game offers several.

btw you cant have all settings maxed because some are not even available on ATI cards.

This game isn't the greatest looking but I registered minimum fps of 29-30. Avg was as follows:
on E8400:
5870@stock (850/1200)

5870@Oc (1000/1300)

you might want to turn off vsync since this is a benchmark. anyway at the same settings as you except with vsync off I got 43 fps which isnt bad for a 192sp gtx260 that technically isnt even half as powerful as your stock 5870.

good point, here you go, the gameplay was way smoother when I turned Vsync off: The minimum fps registered while gaming was 45-43 I believe.

What's remarkable is that the fps difference between the 5870 stock and the 5870 OC was constant at both settings with an fps gap of 7.99.

I needed D3DOverrider to force triple buffering if using vsync in this game otherwise performance suffers greatly.

What's with the last two options? 5 series runs by default? Or does not have the option at all?

Here's one more. I know the resolution is very odd, but on my screen it would be the same height as a 24" monitor. Guess I'm curious how a wider FOV would look like.

Sweet, I'm going to have to try this. I want to pick up the game when it goes on sale on Steam (<$20). The first game was fun, seems like the second follows the same mechanics (meh story, great gameplay limited mostly by your imagination).

I'm about 20% through it and it's a blast! Once you get the controlls down, it goes from a good game to a great game.

Anyone have a sli/crossfire setup to try it with? I'm wondering if it's supported yet?

Nvidia only options. CUDA effects. Not sure exactly what Bokeh does. Something to do with lighting I think. Unimpressive difference with large performance hit as usual.

I know SLI worked with my 9800 GX2.

I get 80 fps on Dark Tower 1920x1080 8x/16x all max except SSAO off since it kills performance. I rather have the GPU water simulation. SLI definitely works. Frame rate doubled going from 260 SLI to 470 SLI.

I ran the benchmark that came with the demo, all options on highest, 2560x1600 with 4xAA and 16x AF, average of 67.81FPS at my everyday clocks of 900/1250. I honestly wasn't that impressed by the graphics displayed in the benchmark, but maybe the game itself is better (I have yet to actually play the demo, didn't have time last night).

1920x1200, same settings as everyone else (4xAA, 16xAF, etc.)

5850 @ stock (725/1000): 53.41
5850 @ XXX speed (755/1125): 56.02 (4.9% faster than stock)
5850 @ 5870 speed (850/1200): 61.58 (15.3% faster than stock)

And while I don't game at 1920x1080, I benched it to make a direct comparison to Apocalypse's 5870:

5850 @ 5870 speed (850/1200): 64.02 (5.4% slower than Apocalypse's 5870)

This confirms my observations in several other games I've benchmarked: 5850 at 5870 speed is 15% faster than stock 5850, 5% slower than stock 5870, so you get a 5% bonus for the 160 extra shaders of the 5870. And overclocking the 5850 makes a great card even better...

By the way, I also played the demo (it gives you 30 minutes of playtime), and while it was amusing, it didn't convince me to buy it. The grappling hook has been done better in Batman, and the third-person gunplay has been done better in many other games (particularly Uncharted 2 on the PS3). Just Cause presents an interesting combo of the two, but it's not a must-have.

It's a must-play for me, that is when the price goes down since it requires steam to play and thus becomes Yours4Life.

JC2 is the best looking game I've played in a long time. Since I upgraded to a gtx 480 and replaced my mva paneled lg l246wp with a dell 2709w s-pva monitor it looks even better at 1920x1200.

its okay looking but there are some super low res textures in spots.
