Just can't get into subtitles

Watching Ju-On (The Grudge) and just can't get into it. Damn subtitles! Why can't they dub movies like the used to? :D

Subtitles are essential for understanding any movie, especially ones with ebonics.

Japanese subtitles are useless because you can't translate correctly. Lost in translation (<=== the movie sucked don't watch it).

I'm the other way around, I almost can't watch a dubbed movie, but my parents started taking me to subtitled movies when I was 9 or 10. Shouldn't every child watch the Shaw Bros., Zatoichi and Wolf with Cub movies?

I'm yet another way around. I can't watch a movie without subtitles, even if the movie is in english, and the subtitiles are in english, because i have been used to the subtitles since I started watching tv. In Belgium, most of the English speaking series on the local channels have Dutch subtitles (or french if you are watching the french channels, or german if you are watching those) and I have become so used to reading to them, that I hardly pay attention to what they are saying in English. Heck, that's the way I learnt most of my Dutch, because my Dutch teacher was hopeless
