Just cancled my DSL and Local Service from Sprint

Yesterday I called Sprint (I have my local,Long Distance and DSL with them) about Bellsouth's new DSL Xtreme service. I wanted to ask them if they had a plan at the same speed and close to the same cost. They informed me that they did have a plan at 3mbs and that it was 94.99 a month :Q!!!!! I told him that Sprint's price was almost double that of Bellsouth. The rep then tells me that it doesn't matter how much Bellsouth charges because I would have to move to get them as my service, and that they owned my lines and I had no other choice but to pay the higher price if I wanted more speed. Well to say the least, I was a bit pissed about his actions. I then informed him I DID have a choice, and to cancel all of my service with the company. I then ordered Cable internet (Got 3mbs for 29.95 a month for 6 months and then 44.95) and also ordered Vonage for my phone.


I was paying Sprint almost 150 a month for DSL local service and unlimited Long Distance, I will now be paying about 80-90 😀

I also had the unlimited Long Distance, it was 64.95 On top of that they hit you with about 20-30 dollars of taxes and fees
 
Just for DSL, 700 something down and 256 up i have to pay the telco $65. The phone is vonage so I atleast knocked out the telco there. Hopefully cable will come out here soon and I can ditch them all together.

i thought i was getting the shaft paying 60/mo for 1.5 down and 256 up.
well i think i still am. but youre getting it worse.

well my bill w/ local service comes to around 95 every month. vonage is not an option for me, because if i wanted DSL without local service they charge 120 for DSL.
and sorry. didnt mean to rub it in. they upped our speed about 8 months ago. before i was in the same boat as you. 784 down and 128 up for 60 a month.
 
Mine was alos 1.5/256. 49.95/month plus 10 federal tax. My brother has Bellsouth 3.0/328 and pays 39.95
 
cox cable charges 29.95/month for 3 down/384 up...$10 more if you need to rent a cable modem. I think they charge $10/month for cable modem rental too, not sure if it's required to rent one though....the service is great too from what I can tell when I visit my parents.

Yes but I prefer being able to leave the house more than 6 months a year without wearing a parka
