Just came back from watching Texas Chainsaw Massacre!

This is one of the scariest movies I have seen in a while...The fact that it is based on a real life event makes it even better! I don't know why everyone gives it 1 star out of 5, but if you want a horror movie, this is the one to watch!

i don't get the premis... what happens car breaks down.. they wait in a "abandoned" house?? pfft.. I'd hit the road for a gas station or wait for another car.. dumb kids

It's genuinely scary. I don't mean scary as in out pops a zombie and that's it... its scary throughout the movie.

I dont' want to say anything to give away the movie, but if you want, scroll down....

SEMI-SPOILER AHEAD

In the opening scene some kids come back from a road trip and run into a young girl walking alone on the road... they decide to pick her up and try to help her, so they drive to the nearest gas/rest station, but the girl tries to get them to turn around. When they decide not to, she shoots herself. The teens then stop by the station and reports the suicide. As the movie continues, the teens (and audience) soon find out why the hitchhiker acted the way she did.

If you liked that, you'd love how the original one started 🙂

This is not based on real life events.. none of this ever happened. It's based very loosely on Ed Gein, who didn't run around with a chainsaw but had a habit of using peoples skin to make stuff.

I'm still confused by this film being released...didnt everyone already see the original? its not like it was a book or play never released as a film or a previously release foreign film (like the ring)...was the remake necessary?

Yes ... to make money. More and more money by rehashing a cult "classic" to new generations who haven't been milked of their hard earned dollars yet.

Did I mention that it was for the purpose of making money? Yep.

I doubt this movie is base on an actual incident, I saw the original movie the plot was different that one claimed to be base on an actual incident.

Wasn't the original the first X-rated movie that wasn't porn? Or I think after this they redid the X rating as follows:
X = Texas Chainsaw Massacre, other gory films like that one by the Italian with the cannibals where they torture the turtle in real life
XXX = good ol' porn

edit: oh yeah, I just saw this, and it was definately the most disgusting movie I've ever seen. Didn't they just do a remake a few years ago? I recall seeing a remake with Matthew McConaughey and Renee Zellweger.

This is exactly what everyone said about The Ring. I watched The Ring and said to myself, wtf? How can anyone find this movie scary?

And for that it would be better to watch Deranged
