Lincoln Financial Field just opened tonight with a football match between Manchester United and F.C. Barcelona. The 4-1 final belied the closeness of the game - at least in the first half, but Man U. dominated yet another game in their 4 game sweep of big name opponents here in the USA.

I'll update tomorrow when I have pics posted...

edit: Pics

p.s. my website has a LOT more pics

That isnt football!! :D

A several weeks ago I was driving up 95 and saw all these stadiums. I grew up in Philly and was like WTF? Now at least I have a name to go with the new stadium. Hell, I remember when Connie Mack Stadium was THE sports arena in Philly.

I'm curious? Did a player get paralzed and lie there motionless while everyone applauded and jumped around? Or is that just when the Dallas Cowboys are in town?

The crowd were Man U. fans not Eagles fans.

BTW, they were cheering the awesome and all together entirely absolutely clean hit by Brian Dawkins, but that's another debate...

The stadium was fantastic - ESPECIALLY when you compare it to its predecessor. There were plenty of concessions all of which were clean! :) There is also a lot more choices that hot dogs and pretzels...

The one criticism - and it's a big one - is that the entire stadium is uncovered. Given the Northeast's propensity towards nasty weather in the fall, there will be some chilly games in the late season for the Eagles....

The stadium looks nice and all, but whoever decided to start nicknaming it "the linc", I suppose to be concurrent with "the vet", needs to be shot dead.

Don't get me started on that...that was so ridiculous. Its one thing to chear that he was down, but to keep cheering, and to cheer louder, when he is unconcsious and the stretcher comes out...everone at that stadium no longer deserved to live. Its a football game, he could have been DEAD for all they know, just because he is a star on a rival team doesn't mean you cheer when something like that happens

it's better than say "lincoln financial field" over and over.

it will probably be renamed in about 3 years when the next bank buys lincoln financial, just like the FU center is now the WAC!

heh, I probably drove by it on our family trip out "East", but didn't know what it was. :) Wonder how it compares to the new Ford Field...I think "the Linc" is supposed to be the only other new stadium that can compare in terms of numbers....don't remember.

yeah just got back too...very nice stadium

I have to say, though, they really need to work out the kinks with parking and crap. Otherwise, they did pretty well. I'll be back for Bruce on Monday!

Looks ok but I am not that impressed with their stadium. Seems kinda pedestrian to me compared with some of the others I have seen.
