They said Mid March and it will never be on the site. I think I am 100% going with the BFG 6600GT OC then, I was really hoping for the x800 xl but I am not waiting another month. Sorry if this already been posted, I didn't see it.

That's really pathetic, it seems that ATI has really got their foot up their ass on this one. I, although loath ATI, would recommend the X800XL as an alternative to the 6800GT for the simple fact that it is (SUPPOSED TO BE) $100 cheaper.

BTW

MY 100th POST!!!   :D :cookie:

Everytime someone calls, they get a different answer. I wouldn't believe anything the CSRs say over the phone.

Cant you just get it from a regular store?

I believe Newegg has them

IMO I would look around at other stores, and get an X800XL

Darn the 15th troll alert on the availability of this card alone. Come on any decent troll would be hiding under the bridge.

Newegg has them, but the cheapest one is $400, which is $100 over MSRP. The reason this card is so desirable is because it theoretically offers the performance equivalent of the nVidia 6800 GT, but with a $300 pricetag... Not quite the same if the card is overpriced.

1. They probably have a huge backorder from the $250 price advertised here at Hot Deals (and no doubt at other deal fora). So they may have committed their production until then to satisfy existing orders.
2. I'm not sure if other ATI card sellers appreciate ATI competing with them in the online space, so ATI may not want to keep an unlimited supply of cards at their store. OTOH, I'd think they'd want to keep more than zero on hand.

So I can understand their being sold out at their online store, tho the otherwise unavailability of the XL at MSRP this long after launch is pretty lame. For shaaaame! </Abe Simpson>

Yup, I called ATI this morning as well and they told me Mid-March, so I'm going to need something to use in the meanwhile unfortunately. I think Mid-March is a realistic estimate at least, but don't hold your breath. We're probably more likely to see these end of march/beginning of april.

If you can buy x800xl's online now, why isn't ATI sending cards to people who preordered them.

Fixed. ATI even said what happened in an interview. It's not that they didn't release their cards, it's that everyone friggin bought them all. That's what happens when you are the #1 video card maker.

This is specifically for those who preordered... but the impression I got was that this was going to be the big shipment and that after this availability would improve. (I implied this, BTW)

So, I'm still sticking by my end of March estimate.

Uh, they have been avail for about a month already.

They are easy to find, starting at around $370. Which is still a lot cheaper than a 6800GT by around $50.

ATI has not shipped ANY with the ATI brand name and box yet. The only ones that are available are Sapphire, PowerColor, and possibly the MSI branded ones, and they are all $75-$100+ over MSRP.

Yeah, exactly. I mean, I preordered as soon as the card popped up on the f-ing website. If everyone "friggin bought them all," then where's mine? And does that change the fact that up until a week ago, ATI Shop was saying the week of 2/21 for the first preorders to ship? Everyone isn't buying them, because ATI hasn't even brought their own cards to market yet. You can't run a business like this and succeed. They've lost my business until they get their acts together.

It's competiton, the 6800GT PCI-E, has only been readily available for a little while now, so there has been little need for ATI to get the card out in big shipments.

I suspect the card will remain priced a little below it's competition.

I think everyone's referring to the ATI branded X800 XL. At least I am!
