i jsut put this pc together this evening, it's got:

Q6600 cpu
freezer 7 pro hsf
asus p5w-dh mobo
x1950 pro 512mb pcie video

the case is a huge alienware fulltower.

when i first fired it up, the mobo ran around 44-46C, cpu 38-42C at idle!

so i tossed a 120mm fan just behind the hsf on the case...that dropped my cpu temps at idle to 17-18C, however my mobo still runs 40-42 at idle. for fans i primarily have the psu fan sucking air out, a 90mm on the side pushing in, and a 120 on the back pushing in. my house is about 73F

i played Crysis at 1280x1024, highest settings in game, and highest settings of EVERYTHING in the radeon control panel, played for about 45 minutes...the cpu hit 25C, the mobo however hit 46C....

That CPU is pretty cold so you're good there, how are you measuring the motherboard temp, though?

woke up this morning, mobo is idling at 41-42C, cpu at 19-20C. i have a server cap with 4 120mm fans on it, think i might mount it to the side of my case and see how the temps are affected.

well with the 120mm blowing on the cpu and a 120mm blowing on the mobo (while somewhat loud), my cpu is running at 24C, and mobo at 33C running Crysis at 16xAF, 6xAA, running "high" on all settings (won't let me do ultra high?), @ 1280x1024.. so i'm happy with those heat readings

I don't know your particular case so here goes some guessing: Have you got a front fan installed?

At first glance it seems all your airflow occurs at the rear of the case and none at the front where your HDDs and mobo temp sensor are likely to be located.

I'd be inclined to have that rear 120mm sucking out. My guess is it currently pushes air in which gets sucked straight back out by the PSU in a tiny airflow loop.

The 90mm (if directly) in line with the CPU cooler could be helping but I'd like to see how it all goes with all the rear fans sucking out, no 90mm fan running and a front fan added.
