Just built a new computer have a question though

Well it's actually two questions but here they go. Here is the setup

AMD64 3200+
ASUS K8V deluxe SE
Radeon 9800 pro 128
1gig kingston DDR400 PC3200

My first question is about the AGP aperature size. Is it probable that with my setup a setting of 128 is actually better then setting it at 256?

Second question refers to ram in the bios. It shows all my ram fine but all the settings are set to auto. Is it posible though that by being set to auto it is actually not setting the ram to the best speeds and what not? I tried looking for info on what the numbers would be but all I ever found was CAS (which was 3). I even called Kingston and they had no idea.

Any insight would be great or any ideas on slight OCing that wouldn't really be an issue heat wise but would beeasy little boosts.(without extra fans{case has one intake already and one blowing in. They probably aren't very good though and more for astetics). Guess that's three questions sorry.

1. Your AGP Aperture is the amount of memory the video card can use if it's own buffer overflows. With your card you could set it at either 64MB or 128MB and not have a problem (or notice a difference).
2. If you could tell us if your memory is either ValueRAM or HyperX that would be appreciated. If the BIOS is set to Auto or SPD it should use the standard memory timings and speed.

1. So do you think then leaving it at 64 is actually better since it seems like it would free up more ram to the system? or am I totally off in thinking.

2. Sorry it is the Value Ram. So since it is standard and not hyper should I just leave it at what it has?

Thanks

1. Not necessarily. The AGP Aperture is the amount of memory a video card can take if it needs to. If it doesn't need it that memory would be available for the rest of the system. By changing the AGP Aperture you are just telling it what the maximum amount of memory it can use is. And since your video card has an 128MB buffer you should be fine with a setting of 64MB in the BIOS.
2. The ValueRAM has lower timings then the HyperX which is why I asked. So if your CAS latency is 3 in the BIOS that is the correct setting.

You be able to take the ram up a few, but it really would not do much. You could oc your proc with a divider on the ram. I would try to lower the CL of the RAM without an o/c

Theres no divider on the K8V (I have one), and the latency would kill the performance anyway.

1. I am going to change it back to 64 then and if I notice that I have any hiccups just for the heck of it I will bump it up but not until then.

2. I set the CAS to 3 since that was the only thing I knew but it has about 8 other settings to which I have no idea. This is going from memory but I want to say TRS was one and a TRC. Everything seems to run fine and it shows all the memory so part of me wonders if I am just wasting my time.

Thanks again.

Really? okay, fine

OK, I will check when I get home tonight, but I am pretty sure there is no divider. Remember, it doesn't even have an FSB. It has HTT channels, and a (not sure the label) memory speed (which is set to 200).
