Just bought World War Z

I really like brook's Zombie survival guide, I took away a lot of useful information. Is world war Z up there? I believe its more an account of different people after a zombie attack.

and, yes, zombies are the scariest thing ever imagined, and one day... they will strike, and I will be ready.

World War Z is a damn good book. Very interesting and has alot of research done into what China, Europe, and the US would do in the face of a zombie invasion, and the post reconstrution effort.

It's a must read for any zombie apocalypse fan. Not great writing by any stretch, but we came for flesh eaters, not high literature, right?

That book is awesome, I'm reading it right now on my iPhone and it's really well written. It's nothing like a traditional book, but it flows very well. Pretty much a collection of short stories.

research? I am sure it was painstakingly done with real zombies to ensure accuracy...

The author's research into everything real in that book (weapons, tactics, geography, ec..) is pretty amazing. He did an excellent job of creating a very, very believable story about what would actually happen if Zombies suddenly started popping up.

I thoroughly enjoyed the book. Some scary stories are in it, especially if you are listening to the audio book while driving through the mountains in eerie darkness.

Very entertaining book. Love the parts with zombies on boats/in the oceans. Not sure if anyone else ever came up with that sort of situation in a zombie book/flick/etc. Very creative, IMO.

Interested to see how the movie plays out.

Question for those who have read it...

SPOILER

.
.
.

Did the girl who was in the trailer camp *not* realize her father fed her people stew? The writing seemed a little heavy-handed in getting that across, which at the same time means the girl had to be a complete idiot not to know what it was.

If you were about to die of starvation would you care?

My question is if she knew what is was or not. The book made it seem like she did not know, even after the fact, while at the same time beating the reader over the head with the clues. Just wondering if I read it wrong or not.

I haven't read this or the Survival guide. If I'm just getting into it, should I read the Survival Guide first? The World War Z book sounds more interesting to me.

the survival guide is dry at times and more of just a survival guide with "just in case zombies" thrown in. It is difficult to read at times, some parts are like a textbook, but still very informative

I loved World War Z.

On a side note, I find it funny that the author Max Brooks is the son of Mel Brooks, as in Blazing Saddles and Spaceballs Mel Brooks!

I got the impression that she knew, but just wouldn't allow herself to acknowledge it. Either that, or the author just had some really poor writing thrown in there. The only reason to be so hamfisted with it is to make absolutely sure the reader knows, and since the writing is literally what the involved parties are saying... yeah.

I'm glad to see other recommendations about good zombie books in this thread, though.

The survival guide gets really repetitive after the first few chapters
