does scrolling through like the program file son start button etc with this mouse, seem a bit off??

not jumpy, but just not very accurate in the windows enviornment..

Using desktop, like i did with my dual optical cord logitech previously.
 
Well for one thing mate, I ditched my Logitech mice because of scrolling and loss of button functionality in different applications. (Even though I had installed (and it worked) the scroll-patch for games).

However, all I can suggest is to check for updated drivers, get the gamer/scroll patch for games from their site, and fiddle with the settings from inside windows.
