Just got back from Circuit City with an HP w2207 LCD. I am just thrilled with how it looks. I was torn between it and the LG L226WT, but constant inspection plus the superior mount swayed it in my favor (they were the same price--$329.) The glossy finish scared me at the store, because of the overhead lighting did glare a bit. No problem in my office though--it's relatively low light. One dead pixel, in the lower left but not a problem. Video looks stunning, but I haven't played any games yet.

funny I just had the exact opposite thing happen, I had a 24" LCD (2nd lcd i've owned) I sold it and picked up a 21" Trintron CRT for 20 bucks and my head's about to explode for letting me go so long with an LCD.

text might be a bit more harsh on the CRT but everything else it's no freaking contest how much better this CRT is. To each his own glad you like your screen man :)

I admittedly had a rather cheap CRT...the brightness is the biggest change. This like going from a candlelit room to having electricity.

LCD's always own in brightness, but I found it to too much even when turned down, LCD's are the future and I'm just an old school geek stuck in the past. I do already miss the Widescreen aspect, which I had just started to really get use to (didn't like it at first)

I will probably go back to LCD when this CRT dies, for $20 bucks I can't expect it to last too long

I also purchased the w2207 and think it is a fantastic monitor.

This one had a perfect screen for about 2 weeks and then one day there was a dead black pixel right in the middle at the top of the screen out of nowhere.

Funny how this dead pixel just showed up after two weeks of being flawless.

Don't know if I should exchange this monitor.

CMC79, are you going to live with the one dead pixel you have on yours or exchange it and try for a perfect one?

For me, I still can't seem to find the "perfect LCD". Too bright, not enough contrast, blurring in FPS's...

So I went with a 22" SGI for $160. Far lighter than my 19' trini (RIP lil' buddy), bigger display.... And it's black...

In my experince dead pixels are pretty rare - usually its a stuck pixel or sub-pixel. First, make sure its not a piece of dust n the screen - and then you can see if you can exercise the pixel out. You can try foing here:

http://www.jscreenfix.com/basic.php

and run the app to see if it can "unstick" the pixel.

I have quite sensitive eyes....LCD's even turned down still are too overbearingly bright for me...I have a headache within minutes...that and if you have the space for them theres no reason not to have a crt

Thanks, I think this is a dead pixel as it is black and only shows up on white or light screens.

I tried udpixel flashing program on it for a couple of hours and it's still there.

I'll give that jscreenfix a try next.
