Just bought some new toys

I plan on getting a Polk CS1 and a pair of Polk Monitor30 Series II next time newegg runs them on special.

I went with the PSW10 mainly to the size of my room. It's quite shallow at 12 feet or so and maybe 16-18 wide which runs into our kitchen. Our house is 1960s non-open floor plan so I think it will be sufficient for my needs. I don't listen to hip hop or rap and mainly just watch TV or Blu-Rays.

I plan on bi-amping the 60s since I will only be going 5.1 due to my room size. I have a Vizio SV472XVT 47" 240hz LED backlit TV.

To me this was a great value as some HTIB systems can cost what I paid. I'm hoping to catch the CS1 and 30s for 70-80 each from newegg soon.

That is a good value.

The TX-SR608 is a great receiver.

My personal opinion on the matter is to go big when buying speakers as they will last you a lifetime while go small on the receiver (initially).

I thought about the 70s and if I listened to a lot of just stereo music I would have went that route. Most of the music I listen to is off of Paladia, or ACL on PBS, or Bluray. Since most of that is at least 5.1 mixed I figured the 60s would suffice.

I have a HTPC, Xbox (HDMI), Bluray, and DVR box with HDMI. I'm really looking forward to eliminating the cable clutter and going all HDMI. I've read a lot of good things on the 608 so I'm hoping it will be a good receiver for many years.

My current setup is a Kenwood HTIB circa 2001 with only one optical and two digital coaxial connections. I've had to manually switch optical cables from my HTPC and Blu-Ray player lately. This setup will go to my bedroom more than likely where all I have is a cable box (with a coaxial digital output) and will probably eventually get bluray player back there.

I'm still tossing around the 40s for surrounds, but I really need something small with the way my furniture is laid out.

Yes indeed.

This morning I checked on the CS1 and Monitor30s and they were on sale at newegg.

I got the CS1 for $69.99 and the Monitor30s for $89.99.

The Monitor60s and the PSW10 came in yesterday via UPS. The PSW10 is a lot more substantial that my Kenwood HTIB sub. My old sub didn't even have its own dedicated amp, it ran off a receiver speaker output. The Monitor60s are freaking huge. I can't imagine what the 70s are like. My wife said she felt like we're going backwards technology-wise with these big speakers. I told her to save that thought until I get everything hooked up and we watch or movie or concert on Blu-Ray.

With cabling from monoprice I'm going to have just a little over $900 in this setup. I think that is quite a bargain.


Does anyone know a good way to mount a center channel above a LCD? The specs list this as 7" tall and that won't work sitting in front of my TV I don't believe.

Wow, very nice looking setup but more importantly, how does it sound? WHat did you have before?

I own the TX-SR607 and I am very happy with it except for the fact it only has 2EQ instead of MultiEQ which adds sub woofer equalization.
