I have an Antec solo with two 92mm front intake slot.

Went to the store and saw SilenX 92mm and they have 3 models with different dBA levels.

I installed one by one, with the back 120mm exhaust Tricool set at lowest settings.

I don't have any measuring device but my ear cannot discern any difference between the 3 different dBA fans over on top of the 120mm tricool fan, tuniq tower fan, and 8800gts fan.

I'm thinking of keeping the highest 14dBA and returning the 9 and 11dBA fans back.

Do you guys 'audibly' differentiate between 9dBA and 14dBA?

SilenX make up random figures for their fans. NO ONE makes/sells computer fans that are that quiet and push that much air. (Note: Despite what some might say, there are official ISO standards for measuring IT-related noise).

the silenx fans are of real bad quality and as was stated they mah up the figures for how loud they are.
In fact the company a while back on a different forum hired some people to promot there products on forums.....

You really don`t want anything to do with that company!!

Peace!!

I put my ear right about 2 feet from the front intake and of course I can hear the supposedly 14dBA SilenX. It is actually quite loud.

I put a Vantec Stealth 92mm on the other intake slot and it produces lower noise. Granted the vantec stealth is rated 0.07A and the 14dBA SilenX is at 0.09Amps.

I had to adjust both the 0.07A vantec and the 0.09A silenx at 8.0-8.5V to give me the silence that I wanted.....i think i'll be happy with them.

Silenx are just normal fans with a dropping resistor built-in - definitely not worth the money. I'd rather buy a fan that can crank some air and put it on a fan controller - quiet when I want, extra cooling when I need.

I have use slineX and Nexus. Amount off the Air Push and Noise SlineX takes the Cake.
Nexus is close but not same.
I have use Stealth 92 mm Nothing beats SlineX
I have excat same Case what you have
I have 14db Fans at front from SlineX and Tri Cool at back.
Tri cool is quiet at slowest speed but it is hardly pushing the Air out.
I am goint to replace that with SlineX 120 and I am going to replace my Tuning 120 Fan with SlineX 120.

I went to a local store last night and bought a 92mm silenx 14db.

I must say it pushes quite amount of air and runs quietly. It seems to run very smooth. The zalman 92mm fan runs at 5v is actually louder than the silenx.

A friend of mine. He got pwned hardcore by a 3.50 YATE.

Guys, SAVE YOUR WALLET! Just buy YATES. i dont understand why this statement is so hard.

If you really think its impossible for a fan to cost that cheap and be that quiet, and perform that great, then get the rebag'd overpriced NEXUS fans then. Its still the same YATE only downvolted.

I only use yates. I gave up on all other fans. The only fans i might even think about over a yate would be a Sharkoon golfball, or a Enermax marathon. Also papst are very good.

But those fans i listed cost 3-4x if not MORE, then a YATE @ near sound and performance.

I don't have experience with many fans because I usually don't buy fans; and if I do buy I usually buy Antec. All the fans those I have experienced with are the Antec Tri-Cool, Zalman Fan (LED), 92mm SilenX 14db (LED)

Antec Tri-Cool: Pre-installed with the case, P180 specifically. Bought 92mm, 80mm.
Zalman Fan: Pre-installed with Z-Machine GT-1000.
SilenX Fan: 92mm LED 14db

Experience:

I consider tri-cool fan on low to be somewhat silent. It's not smooth. I could hear low pitch of motor clicking. It doesn't really push much air at low.

Zalman fan can be quiet at 5v and push a decent amount of air. I could hear it from 1 foot away.

SilenX fan, on the hand, I find it to be silent. It runs smooth and pushes good amount of air.

For my limited experience, I find the SilenX (LED) to be the best one.

Since most people/review site said and recommend Yate Loon fan, I'm just gonna go ahead and buy some to experiment with. I hope they don't bias because of the price.
