Just bought Sanyo Vizon 30" HDTV CRT for $299 OTD

Been wanting an HDTV...was looking at everything from projectors to LCD's to 42"-50" plasma

Saw this in an ad today. It is a refurb. Have not hooked it up yet but since it is B&M I am protected with 30 day return policy. For that price I beat the cheapest 32" LCD Refurbs by over $200 with a better return policy. Guess I will find out for sure when I hook it up tomorrow. Any opinions?

BTW that was including taxes, price was $279 + 7% tax

It is a nice TV, but there's a reason you got a refurb and so cheap. There is a major problem with this TV in that after some use, it causes the colors to be tinted green. On mine, it only sometimes happens, but it is annoying when it does. This is very widespread. Mine has a few other problems (the geometry on the sides is screwed up so the screen has an almost trapezoidal shape, and also, I've been getting other weird issues that probably stem from extended use).

So when it works, its great, but it does have a major flaw.

These were originally manufactured specifically for Wal-Mart by Sanyo if that gives you an idea into how much quality and quality control went into them. Since I bought mine direct from Wal-Mart, I might possibly be able to return it under the warranty (I've seen people who contacted Wal-Mart tell them to return it since Sanyo TVs have a 2 year warranty), but I'll see. I've had it for about a year and a half.

Just wanted to follow-up and say I am impressed so far. Handles standard def better than the LCD tvs I have seen in stores. Have not tested High def yet. Mine does not seem to have any issues whatsoever, maybe the refurb quality control is tighter.

What is funny is I can't find a review anywhere. If you search "Sanyo Vizon HDTV" on google my thread is #3...lol that is sad. Maybe I will have to review the damn thing.
