Just bought Logitech X-540 for my PC setup, need help on placement.

I had originally a 5.1 sound system hooked up to my computer just using an aux cable to the green jack to my system and I was not getting 5.1 surround like I should have and I wanted to buy speakers just for my PC anyway and move the sound system to my TV anyway so I went ahead and ordered the speakers. I set it up and everything however I noticed the rear speakers cables were pretty short so I ran into trouble trying to set them up behind me. I have no idea what I could do to remedy this so I just ended up putting them up on the wall:

I'm still in the process of putting up some cabinets and other stuff I got from home depot to hide all the cables and pretty much clean it all up and also waiting on my second monitor to arrive to put it on the desk. So I just need a couple of ideas as to how I could get the rear speakers behind me. I was thinking about somehow putting them up on the ceiling just behind my chair(where the chair would go right in front of the desk) but the cables seem to be too short and it really gets in the way. Any suggestions? I didn't have this problem with my other sound system because the copper/silver cables that connect to the subwoofer are looooooooooooooooooooooong and I have them set up in the back of the room already and its great. Just gotta figure out what to do with these rear speakers from the x-540's.

Any help or ideas would be appreciated, I'd like to get the best out of the surround experience for when I game.

They aren't rear speakers. In a 5.1 setup, the surrounds are to be mounted to the sides and slightly rearof the listening position. Rear surrounds exist only in 7.1 or more, apart from the antiquated quadraphonic and 6.1 setups. Google dolby's setup guide for proper 5.1 so that you are properly enveloped by the surround field.
