I'm a Chevy head, always had a thing for Camaros. I've owned 7 of them ranging from a 1969 Camaro RS, to a 2000 Z28. Loved every one of them. I'm getting older and have two kids, so the Camaro time in my life is not really an option (unless I was a rich guy).
I wanted a luxury 4DR with something interesting under the hood. I almost went for the 2010 Taurus SHO, twin turbo, but after a test drive, I actually had to ask the sales guy if the car was in valet mode (reduced HP). That car dissappointed me. Not what I was expecting from a 365HP (advertised) engine.

The SRT8 300C is something I've considered for a few years now. My best friend is a Mopar nut, always has been, and steered me to this car. All I'm saying is, this car is everything I could've asked for. It's huge, plenty of room for the whole family, and has more power than I ever thought possible from a 4200LB vehicle. 425HP 6.1L HEMI, Performance suspension that still rides very smoothly when cruising along, and Brembo GIANT brakes all around.
Even has a DVD player in the back for the kids.

Sorry for the longish post, but I was just excited and wanted to share this with my fellow motorheads. I'll always have the V8 lust in my heart. ;)

I'll post pics sometime today. Bright Silver with Grey leather int. A beauty.

A woman I work with has one. I had to drive over to our warehouse one day a few weeks ago to research a discrepancy with an inventory item but I didn't feel like riding my motorcycle over there so she let me take her car.

I also rented a 300C a couple years ago in Maui, that thing was a dog though and you really felt the weight in that car.

It's a nice car with plenty of comfort and power but I don't like the high belt line and large blind spots. That said, it's probably one of the nicest cars Chrysler has turned out in probably the last 40 years...which isn't saying much.

Congrats.

Was her 300C an SRT version? My father's 300 SRT8 feels heavy, but it is far from a dog. The acceleration and torque on that car has messed me up royally. I can't find a car that I am happy with at all since I drove it. lol

Yes, hers is an SRT version and it has plenty of power. The rental was a V6 and it was a dog.

Why would anyone spend near what that costs... for a Chrysler?

Have you driven a large Japanese sedan with a 400 hp+ V8?
The Lexus LS460 and GS 460 and IS-F are great cars, but I don't think that's what he was looking for, from his love of Camaros, I think he wanted more of a muscle sedan. I would have personally recommended the Charger SRT8 since it's basically the same car with IMO a nicer looking body.

Either way though, if you want a Muscle Sedan, you really only have 2 choices left in that area from Dodge and Chrysler.

Since you are a Bowtie guy - why not the G8 GT or G8 GXP.

The Chrysler SRT8's are pretty heavily discounted so they make for a bargain and are well appointed with lots of luxury features and great seats!

Looouuiiissss: Why not Chrysler? I loved the car. The design, the lines, the color, the powertrain, interior is excellent. What's not too like?
Consumer Reports? If you actually wish to base your auto purchasing decisions on consumer reports, more power to you. I buy what I like and for my own reasons. I wanted an American Luxury Performance Sedan. A.L.P.S. and this SRT8 300C was my answer. The SHO Taurus I test drove was an absolute pig. 365HP my butt. I test drove the SRT8, and that got my heart blasting and the hair standing up on the back of my neck. THAT is what I wanted. Plus all the luxury this car brings.

yh125d: I'm not a total idiot. This is a 2006 Chrysler Pre-Owned Certified vehicle. I got it for a fraction of what the car was new. 28k on the odometer.
I did not wish to spend 48K on a new one. And this car has every conceivable option that was available at the time of original purchase. The original sticker was 45K.

FRM12B: I wanted a change. I've had GM all my life with the exception of a 2000 Mercury Sable and our 2008 Ford Escape. Traded the Sable in towards this.
One thing I have alway disliked about GM was that they make spectacular powertrains. Engines are to die for, and run like hell. Trannies are golden. Rears have a little to be desired, but for stock they were allright. The think I hated, was that the powertrains were so good, but everything else around the powertrain felt like it was made out of the cheapest crap they could find. Take a door panel off to change out a speaker. How many clips break in that process? Reach for the power window buttons and watch them loosely wiggle in place like they won't last the year. And this is on a brand new vehicle. Every thing in the interior starts rattling sooner than later. My 2000 Sable was as solid all around as the day we bought it new. 10 years ago. GM has a lot to learn from the likes of Ford. Chrysler isn't as good as Ford, but they are leagues ahead of GM in that regard. GM is just Abyssmal in that regard.
I still love Chevy, I just wish they would do things a little better for the all around car instead of just the great powertrains.

pwnagesarus: I've done black. You see my current avatar? That was my actual car before some idiot rammed me from behind and destroyed it and two other cars as well. Black is totally GORGEOUS. Agreed. But it's the biggest PITA to keep it looking GORGEOUS. Silver on the SRT8 is a bit more elegant on this type of car (I feel) with all the chrome accents. It really looks "regal" for the lack of a better description. And it does give the car a bit more of a "sleeper" element that I was looking for. Black attracts attention more, but I like to be the one with a surprise. :)

Thanks!!

My tastes are different than others I suppose? Chrysler was the only American car company that offered exactly what I wanted. And fortunately, I didn't "settle" for the 300. I really fell in love with the car a few years back. The body design is just too damn elegant and has a nice refined look that I was after. And I'm not telling you how much I paid for it. :p

People will buy what they love. I bought my Neon SRT4 cus at the time there was nothing performance wise that came close and it's still a performance giant today. Chrysler did make awesome cars and the SRT line is an awesome line of cars that people who have never driven them will never know. I've driven every SRT vehicle and driven them hard and they're all great cars.

I hear you about the black. It sucks when I have just finished washing my car and five minutes later, some bird craps on it. D:

Personally, I think the interior is too empty, and for the sticker price, the interior should be a bit better.

Time to supercharge it and buy a Predator. :p

Still would of been worth at least checking out the G8. The imported Holden's usually surprise people (including me, and I've been a die hard GM fan since before I could drive even) for fit/finish and interior for a GM product. Granted the Chrysler has more 'luxury' ala navigation etc, but even the 'sport' suspension is aimed more for the luxury side of the line as well. Understand I'm a bit biased though since I drive a G8 GT.

That said, don't surprised though if a lowly GT walks away from you when you drop the hammer - I can walk a stock SRT8 Challenger no problem and I'm very lightly modded. Congrats though, it's still a very nice car (despite what some 'domestics can do no right' people may say).

A 300 SRT8 is faster than a G8 GT. Probably just human error driving the one you beat that was stock when you were stock. They're closely matched stock that slight human error could give one the edge.

That G8 is just a GTO right? Or at least the same frame and powertrain? LS series 400HP engine? Yeah, I didn't like them as GTO's and I really don't care for the look. It's too egg shaped for me. Some may say the 300 is too boxy too, but I like that in this particular car. Anyhow, I don't know what your G8 does in the 1/4, but stock SRT8 300 is anywhere from 12.7 to 13.3 depending on track conditions, elevation and of course, the driver. Air intake mod and a quick programming gets me up to about 470HP. If I do headers, thats another 18 - 25.
