Hey gang,
I just got this ASUS 6600 clocked at 300/550. I am going to o/c it (card is cheap enough not to care if it fries.) but I would like some info about the memory. I know the core can easily hit 6600GT speeds because it is just a severly underclocked GT core, but the memory is obviously regular DDR. It has Samsung chips and says 36 on them. Does this mean the memory is 3.6ns? If so, what is its theoretical maximum speed rating.

I forgot the formula :eek:

Thanks guys.

3.6ns = 3.6e-9

the formula would be f = 1/t

where t = the 3.6e-9

f = 1/3.6e-9 = 277.77Mhz

so your pretty much at the theoretical max as it stands

Thank you very much Otis!!!
However, I must be wrong about the 3.6 speed then. I am running the memory at 325 effective 650 currently without any probs. Unless I just got lucky with this RAM. What are these cards supposed to come with as far as memory speed in ns anyway?

Thanks again Otis.

well i would assume 36 stood for 3.6ns cycle time, cant see what else it stands for, maybe you can check who made the ram, and then maybe check their website, they may have table to help identify their memory an what all the codes mean

just becuase in theory the max is 277mhz doesnt mean it is, i have a 9500pro that does wel past 9700pro memory speeds and its ram is only 3.3ns rated for in theory 303Mhz

guess you got lucky :D
