Yeah, I know I'm bragging and OT is not the best place for it. But, I'm done with IDE burners.

Damn this Yamaha is smoking fast. Hot Swappable, Daisy-Chain branching, 8MB Buffer and rips a 74min Audio CD in 3 minutes! Sh11111111111111111111ttttttttt.

FireWire sucks, SCSI is where its at. Nice drive tho, I might get the 20/10/40 if plextor doesn't make a 24x scsi verion

I got it for less than $300. How the heck does Firewire suck?? I didn't have any more bays in my main system so I opted for the firewire. I have no regrets so far.

For an external drive, I'd much rather have firewire. A firewire card costs little $$$, it's hot swappable, and the cable is small unlike SCSI.

<< but remeber this scsi uses less cpu and firewire uhhhh ? >>

well, isn't firewire hardware-based just like SCSI?

Regardless anything is better than IDE for CDR's (except USB), congrats on ur pruchase. The ol 8/20X SCSI Plextor serves me fine, I'd upgrade but then I might loose the ability to copy safedisk2.

I just put in an HP internal IDE for this guy tonight after work. (Yeah, I know, tough!!) He gave me his old Ricoh and $40. Can't beat that. Yeah, USB is not all it's cracked up to be. I guess everything is better than Parallel.
