Just bought a wireless mouse - now why is it jerky?

I just bought a Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse 2.0. One thing that I noticed right after plugging it in is that it lags a little. Not enough so that other people could notice, but enough so a gamer notices it. I'm sure everyone has found this out? Everything was smooth when I was using Internet Explorer, but then when I went to play CSS, whenever I would move my mouse, it would be jerky. It kind of looked like I had a lower frame rate, if understand what I am saying. Is there any way to fix this, or is it like that with all wireless mice?

EDIT: Now that I have figured out the jerky problem, is there a way to fix the scroll wheel? It is a smooth one, so when scrolling through weapons, I don't know when to stop, because you can't feel the bumps. Any ideas?

try turning off mouse smoothing

also try using ps/2 instead of usb.

if that doesn't help, test it out in other games and see if the problem still persists

Ok, mouse smoothing has been off, I plugged it into PS2 port, I made the process point32.exe high priority, and I changed the refresh from 100 to 200 per second. Now it works fine. Is there any way I can automatically make point32.exe high priority? And why would using PS2 port make a difference?

I had this mouse and I hated it. I would go get MX1000 if you can still return it. You can get the MX1000 for about the same price with rebate and stuff. MS one lags so bad to be honest.
