I recently bought a new hard drive and it wouldn't read 200gb because I don't have sp2 installed so I got a win xp cd with sp2 already on it. My question is, is there anyway to install the new xp over the old one or do I have to uninstall one to use the other?

yes you can install your new xp over the old one. just put in the cd and tell(not literally, hehe) it you want to upgrade.

....If it's retail. Otherwise, if it's OEM, you'll have to boot off of it and do a quick repair. Either way, easy as pie.

When I boot off the cd it gives me two options I can either enter setup or repair a windows xp installation using recovery console. If I click the repair it takes me to a screen that asks which windows I want to repair i type in 1 which is C:/windows then it asks for the admin password I type that in then c:/windows comes up and I don't know what to type in that.

Recovery Console isn't going to help you here.

Go to do an install. When it says there's an exisiting install, tell it you want to "repair" that install.
