Anyone have any experience with this: 1996 Isuzu Rodeo 2WD, V6?

I got it for dealer trade-in prices. It needs tires, brakes and shocks but it has low miles 66k (considering the fact that it is 7 years old). I'm going to sell my wife's car and let her take my '03 Maxima...sniff:gift::(

Good reliable car?

Sounds like a decent deal. I know a guy that drove a mid 90s Rodeo for a while and he never had trouble with it.

I'm going backwards, my wife is going forward. It's a sacrifice I'm willing to make.

At least I won't have to drive her old hoopty.

I had a Isuzu p/u as a work beater, 5sp 4cyl. It went 180000 before I sold it. Retorqued the head and had to put bearings in the manual trans at 120000. A no frills basic OK vehicle.

Aside from what you stated it needs. If its an auto, change the fluid and filter. If there are any adjustments for the bands inside the trans do them at this time. The feel and lock-up will not go unnoticed. Take a hard look at all belt and hoses. Flush the cooling system if needed. Debug the radiator fins. Make sure the battery cable connections are clean and covered with a protective layer of Vaseline. New wiper blades. Is the spare low or flat?
Check all lights.

If the a/c works good, you can help it from loosing its freon by using it at least once a week. The seal at the compressor drive pulley will "dry out" over time and by using the a/c the oil that is in the freon will wet the seal. This is the major reason cars that set for long periods of time to lose their freon..Hope some of this is of use..

I have a maxima same year as yours and we also have an Isuzu in the family. It's my uncles. He has 80,000 miles on it and they have no problems.
If you recall Honda used to rebadge the Isuzu and sell it for something else.
It's reliable.
Nice truck, but not sport/luxury like the Maxima.
