just bought the TT XaserIII Aluminum casing & was wondering how to properly installed the thermal probe of the hardcano to my Intel Pentium4 2.53 CPU cooled by Volcano 7+.. tried putting the probe as close as possible to the heatspreader but it read-outs 15degC lower than the bios. anyway i can properly connect this and detect as close to the real temp on the P4? or is this just designed for cpus w/o heatspreaders...any help would be appreciated..

thanks...

I never installed mine, but from what I've seen from the instructions it is to be put underneath the cpu inside the Socket(one of the reasons I didn't install it, didn't want to muck around and get it in wrong). Ya, if your cpu has a heatspreader it will be next to impossible to get an accurate readout from underneath(if there even is an underneath available) the heatsink and as close to the heatspreader as possible.

If your videocard doesn't have an onchip temp sensor, you could use that sensor to monitor the GPU's temps. Just don't freakout when you see temps over 70c though, that's quite common.
