Very good buy
IBM list is $2669 + the extra 512MB of RAM
if it's 1 stick that runs about $650 if 2 it's an additional $170
Plus you got the a/b/g card from IBM
So yeah I would say you got a great deal on that machine
If you have not already received it your gonna love this piece of equipment
they are simply the BEST you can buy.

Thanks enriqesque. I havent received it yet, but I have used a T40 and T41 before, so I guess I know what to expect.

THe only thing you are missing over a T41p really is the active HD protection.... over the T42.....DOTHAN...

But to me and perhaps you those are extremely minor, so you bought behind the curve very well in my opinion.

And the FireGL card... you won't be playing any heavy games on it. But it's a good machine.

Why do you ask if it's a good buy, when you've already bought it? Did you really think 1840 dollars was a bad buy, for a machine that lists at 2669? =)

Well it was an auction on Ebay, and I couldnt find the price on something similar (i.e. refrub not new) and didnt know how to value the extra over the regular T40.

But thanks...now I cant wait to get it in my hands.

His comes with the Fire GL card..
Don't know how much gaming you do... But you should be able to play most from last year back
and some from this year.

I only have the 9000 non GL and have no problems playing most games
Unreal Tournement 2004 plays better on my T40 than my desktop.
Granted the desktop only has a Geforce 4 Ti 4200 but still I found it funny
that it plays better on the notebook.

Ah yea.. sorry, I mean the FireGL T2. I've been playing Call Of Duty, Painkiller and Prince of Persia 3D on my t41p - I have to turn down settings a lot, if I don't want choppiness. I can only imagine, that it would be much worse ona 9000.

T40P does have the fire GL.... Just not the T2 version.
