Just bought a RAZR!

Just got myself a RAZR V3C for Verizon, free after rebate from Circuit City. Who here has flashed back to the old Altel firmware? I think the verizon firmware is a POS. I want the original version back.

Anyone flash back? If so, how do you like it?

I hear everyone hates their razr because it is a trendy piece of crap phone with terrible functionality

I know of atleast 5 people that are going to be getting a different phone because they have not been satisfied with the RAZR!!!!!!!!

I've got the Razr V3C and love it *shrugs*

Anyway, what does the Altel firmware do? I got my phone through US Cellular, would I be able to do this on my phone if I wanted?

If it's as usual, Verizon probably crippled a lot of the functionality of the phone (bluetooth, ability to transfer photos off of it freely, etc..). Alltel generally doesn't do this to their phones so flashing Alltel's firmware onto the phone would give you the full functionality of the phone back.

Another reason I switched from Verizon to Alltel.

I'm trying to fix a friend's razr right now... the only button on the key pad that works is the power button! LOL...
this might be a hopeless cause... Seems like a nice phone...

if you have the 2nd edition firmware, you get full OBEX support without having to hack and then accidentally end up with paperweight and a 2-year contract agreement.

I have an LG I bought two years ago. I just buy anything that includes tri-mode and is a flip phone. How many people buy this just because it's trendy, as opposed to needing a new phone? I use my phone until it dies.

Nope, T-Mobile aren't a bunch of dicks like VZW are, the original Motorola firmware is there. Also, the Verizon/Alltel RAZR is a CDMA phone (V3c), Cingular/T-Mo sell the GSM RAZR (V3).

I use my phone until it annoys me...sub-par battery life, power cycling, degrading reception, etc.

Since I find aftermarket batteries suck that's grounds for a new phone.

EDIT: My last phone, an LG, sucked sh!t and was replaced in 3 months.

Well, I guess only one phone I had qualified as non-dying but only because I shelled out for a new OEM batter about year and half after I bought it. Otherwise, a year is about my average for keeping a phone.

I actually bought the RAZR because

a.) I needed a new phone

and

b.) my brother bought one last week, so it was buy one get one free, and any phone is better then my old POS (couldnt even get a background on my old one) so i took the free one (well, i paid him $75 to split the difference)

I love the RAZR so far......its so quick (just because its a new phone, nothing in general with it just being a RAZR) at downloads, i love the spacing of the keypad buttons (i can text alot faster now), VCast is sweet, the picture quality is amazing (and so is the screen quality) and its just so beautiful
