I bought a Perfect Pancake at Goodwill for 2.99. Goodwill FTW!!

Anyone else have one of these? Use one of these?
Are you guys excited for me?

9/8/08 UPDATE

Well, I used the PP when I went camping. I tried to cook eggs in it. I mean I really tried. I got the damn thing heated up, added butter and an egg. I cooked it well on one side, went to flip and...well...eggs went everywhere! All over the camp stove, me, our table. I was so disappointed! I wanted to try again but no one was down for another disaster. You failed me Perfect Pancake! You FAILED!!!!

In order - no, no, and no.

I just use a griddle - much more versatile and the pancakes made on it are round enough.

I know someone who ordered one while drunk. When it came he said it was terrible.

Still, $2.99, worth a shot I guess.

No, I do not have one. No, I've never used one. Yes, I am excited for you.

But why anyone in their right mind would buy this over a waffle iron is beyond me. Waffles are vastly superior to pancakes.

I bought it for a camping trip I am taking tomorrow. I figured if it got trashed I wouldn't care that much.

Have I told you lately that I love you? Totally agree on all points as usual.

I have a waffle iron. My mom had bought it, but almost never used it.

After making pancakes once, I found that it just wasn't worth the boredom of staring at a flat glob of batter as it slowly caramelized on a pan, and constantly checking it to see that it was done.

Waffle iron: Pour, close, ignore for a minute, and it's done.

This sounds like the same sort of thing, except without the waffle pattern.

I don't like the glut of over-specialized kitchen gadgets that have been appearing on the market over the last several years. Quesadilla cookers, for example. I put a lot of stuff in the quesadillas I make so it would be difficult to close the cooker, and when I make them I tend to be feeding large groups of people and have multiple frying pans and electric griddles going at the same time. Having one specialized gadget for cooking a specific item creates a bottleneck in the cooking process, unless you're only cooking for yourself and you eat like a bird.

Waffle irons and waffle cone makers are the exception to the rule. :p

this is true, i can cook 6-8 pancakes at once on my griddle, they all get done at basicially the same time and are all nice and hot

the 1 pancake at a time method is stupid, because you either have luke warm pancakes or you eat only 1 at a time

Short stack/full Stack >>>> 1

I would imagine the pancakes cook extremely fast in this device since it is doing both sides at once.

Exactly.

When I am making quesadillas for a group I put the cheese, chicken, veggies, et cetera in between the tortillas (already buttered), and stack them on a plate about twenty to thirty quesadillas high. I Saran Wrap them to the plate if I am transporting them somewhere to be cooked, so they don't fall off and the stuff doesn't fall out. Even with all burners and griddles going it is still impossible to keep food on peoples' plates for the first half hour or so.

Okay, I have a confession. I didn't buy the Perfect Pancake for pancake making. I bought to make over easy eggs while camping. They are my favorite way to eat eggs and I always fuck up the flip. I was hoping that the Perfect Pancake would be a Perfect Egg Flipper.

They'd have to pay me to take one.

I just use a griddle and spatula. If you can't use a spatula for making pancakes, you shouldn't be making pancakes.

And the only way to eat eggs is scrambled anyway.

it doesn't do both sides at once, you have to flip it over. LOL

You'd better make sure it's not a violation of applicable laws to use the device in a manner inconsistent with the directions.
