I finally got a Nintendo DS after months of lusting after it. I got the Black Onyx Color and I bought Brain Age which was a must for me. I'm looking to get some other good games for it. I dont really want to get racing games for it because I dont like playing racing games on handheld systems. Maybe games like Castlevania or some good RPG's/Hack & Slash games, I saw that they are coming out with Final Fantasy 3 which should be awesome but any other recommendations???

You can also import Phoenix Wright: Justice for All, the sequel to Ace Attonrey, it is the jp version, but it include the finished english version in the same cart as well. You can get it from NCSX

lol, yeah, i guess you could call it that... you play the role of a lawyer/detective. The gameplay basically consists of the in trial stuff with trying to find inconsistencies in the testimony of witnesses and out of trial stuff that involves doing some detective work by looking for clues in the different areas you have access to and by interviewing people. if you're even a little bit of a fan of anime, you'd probably enjoy it since it seems like an interactive anime show.

Final Fantasy 4 sucks, don't get that. Bugs and uninteresting story.

Metroid sucks, don't get that either. It would have been a kickass game if it wasn't so uncomfortable to play. Hurts entire hand after 30 minutes of play time.

Sonic Rush sucked too.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kirby: Canvas is fun.

New Super Mario Bros. can be fun, just don't expect a challenge.

Super Mario 64 is excellent, if you haven't already played it. If you have played it, it's still fun if you want to relive it.

I also liked Resident Evil (played in normal mode). However, I may be biased towards it.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My girlfriend likes:

Animal Crossing.

Peaches. (I though it was easy and sexist.)

Pheonix Wright.

My girlfriend didn't like:

Sims 2. And she loves the sims series. (plus, its just a port of the Advance version)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To tell you the truth, there aren't many good games I would buy for this system. Most don't appeal to me, especially the ones that use the stylus, as I think its a shot technology since it can be really uncomfortable to play with and it scratches the screen with normal use.

Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime
Mega Man ZX
Super Robot Taisen: OG (GBA)
StarFox Command (For the SP, MP isn't good)
Mario Kart DS (For the MP, amazing game)
New Super Mario Brothers (Flawless)
Final Fantasy 3 (Ships tomorrow, be warned, the game doesn't have an active battle system or mana - very old style gameplay)
Final Fantasy 4 Advanced (GBA)
Final Fantasy 5 Advanced (GBA)

Incase you are wondering, I'm listing GBA games also because you can play them on your DS, not because I'm insane.

Any major difference between Brain Age and Big Brain Academy?

My sister and I got a DS for our Dad and I'm trying to decide between the two of them for him. Also trying to decide between True Swing Golf and Club House Games as a second game for him.

Metroid Pinball rocks too.

I thought I recalled reading that Big Brain Academy was a better setup than Brain Age. Not sure. If I recall, Brain Age has more math, Academy has more problem solving.

You may like Brain Age, but I don't think it makes you smarter. It may "make your Brain work harder," but I think you'll only be faster at doing those simple calculations. You won't work faster with other things, it's like a learned behavior or playing a FPS, with practice, you become better and faster. But only with those exercises.

I OBJECT!

Sorry... I had to :p. You might be able to find this game at Circuit City, I know my local one has had it off and on quite a lot.

Oh and VIAN, FFIV is a GBA game (although they are playable on the DS, I just wanted to distinguish). I also have this game and have noticed no problems with it.

Big Brain Academy and Brain Age are a bit different in presentation and content, but the purpose is the same. I found Brain Age to be more of math where BBA was more situational every day things (such as the which side has a higher monetary value and they give you two sides with coins on each). BBA is also not how fast you complete a task like BA is, BBA is how much you can do in a certain amount of time.

Hmmm...nothing to help make up my mind yet. :) I guess the one thing that BA has is a lot of Sodoku puzzles....but I'm not sure if my Dad cares for those or not.

Sudoku is definitely the best aspect of Brain Age. In my opinion, Brain Age also has the best console sudoku implementation. That opinion comes from me playing Sudoku Mania! (DS), Go! Sudoku (PSP) and the version in Brain Age. I feel like I'm leaving one out, but oh well.

Sudoku Mania has issues with write detection and cannot detect a '5' using any method (actually writing a five, writing an 'S' which tends to be interpretted as '5', etc). Personally, I love write detection for playing sudoku as you feel like you're actually doing it on paper, so it's either that or nothing.

Go! Sudoku had a horrible "Please Wait!" screen that'd pop-up ever so often and god knows why it did. The worst part was... when this screen popped up, the timer was still going! I didn't mind the no writing part, since this was a PSP game and didn't have the availability of that functionality, but the wait screen sealed the deal for me and I sold it back to EB.

Note that I also sold Sudoku Mania! back to EB as well.

But for BA vs BBA, I'd say if your dad is more of a technical guy, go for BA... if he's more of a visual/hands-on kind of person, go for BBA. BBA also has more of a "kiddie"/cartoony feel to it, so be a bit warned on that.
