Just bought a new card. A few questions please!

OK, I just bought a Transcend 9600 Pro for $114 from Newegg. I installed it and put the drivers on the CD onto my computer. I ran 3dMark03 and got a score of 2903.

1.) Is that a good score? I have a 1.6 Mhz CPU, 512 RAM.

2.) How do I know if I have the best drivers?

3.) How do I overclock?

4.) How do I overclock safely?

Thank you so much. I am kind of a newbie when it comes to these things.

1. Probably about right, depends what cpu you have though.
2. Some like the ati drivers and some prefer the omega ones. Try out each if you want to see which you like best.
3. Use a program such as radclock.
4. Safely? The safest is to not overclock at all. But just make sure the card and your case has plenty of cooling. Bump your clocks up a little at a time and test thoroughly to make sure it's stable and artifact free.

You can find out if you have the most up-to-date drivers by visiting ATIs website, and going to the driver downloads section. You can identify your driver version by clicking on the advanced tab on display properties, and clicking adapter, then click properties, if your driver version matches the most current one on the site, you're good to go. As far as OC'ing goes, I really wouldn't reccomend it if you aren't knowledgable about the whole area. But if you want to OC safely, and you have done your research, ATI has a built in OCing tool included in their driver. I however, don't own an ATI card, so perhaps someone with the ATI diagnostics set can help you out. But honestly, if your games run fine, don't OC for no reason.
