just bought a geforce2 ultra

to go along with a p3 1ghz (133)
256 cas2 ram
asus p3b-f (1008 bios)

900 3dmarks default settings...

106 fps quake3 fastest settings

it soars to 300 fps when there is no action

with fully tweaked quake3 settings (picmip 5 640 res vertex) it drops to 60 fps in areas of maps where it should be 200fps, as seen on inferior machines

set my aperture to 128 megs

can't find any indication of agp2x in bios

is there anywhere to check what my agp is set to? (1x, 2x, etc)

something isn't right here and i'm pretty sure it's the agp x issue

You could download a utilitie such as NVMAX HERE or something to check\change it

thanks a lot - very nice proggy

it said it was on auto - i changed it to 2x and it gave me a dll error which i fixed by dloading the nvqtwk.dll file

it didn't change performance tho, so either agp2x wasn't the issue, or nvmax didn't actually change the agp x setting.

if a format and reinstall doesn't fix this, i'm gonna go for a newer mobo that supports 133 mhz fsb - pity as i really thought the bx chipset was a golden oldie and super fast.
