Just bought a Gateway GT4010

For a prebuilt machine, I gotta say this machine rocks. Athlon 64 3500, 1GB ram, 16X DVD Burner, 200GB harddrive, all for $550+tax.

Anyways, I want to upgrade the integrated Geforce 6100 solution to something else. The motherboard has a single PCIE X 16 slot, so I'm assuming it can handle most modern video cards. The only problem is the powersupply is 300 watts. I'd like to get a card that can handle most current games at medium/low settings. What can I get that will work with this powersupply? Thanks.

I'm not sure who makes the powersupply (it's either Bestec or Delta), but it is only a measly 300-watts.

The system itself doesn't draw much power, most everything is integrated and the motherboard is a microBTX form factor I believe. I have one DVD-RW drive, built in sound, built in NIC, one 7200 rpm HDD, and an Athlon 64 3500.

I think i'll just try out a 6800GS or X800 and see how things go.

I wanted to pick up one of these computers as well. I was debating between either custom building or getting a pre-built system. The numbers are pointing toward pre-built. I would go for 6800GS personally.

Your going to need to replace the PSU.

Get the 6800GS - Best bang for the buck.

Actually, you probably don't have to replace the PSU, and you may not even be able to.

Pop the computer open and make sure you have enough power cables. I upgraded an e-machine, and there was only one 4pin molex connector. I had to add an adapter and use the PCIe power adapter that came with the video card. You should be ok with a 6800 GS.
