Just Bought a Gaming Computer

I just bought a gaming computer however I need one more part. A network card. I need to connect wirelessly and the other owner had no need for that so what network card should I get? I also would like to upgrade to a mechanical keyboard. What would you suggest for that?

I purchased the ASUS (PCE-N15) wireless network card for my sister's computer and it's been great. Has never dropped the connection and was a reasonable price.

For mechanical keyboards, I love my Corsair K60. Cannot go back to cheap keyboards anymore. Corsair just released their K70 and K95 keyboards. Those would be worth looking into. The build quality on these keyboards are fantastic.

why the hell would you recommend a $40 USB wifi adapter? ...

Because it's there .....and will last.

They can be found for 10-20 bucks max

Yeah, he could buy a $10 piece of junk that will last him a maybe a year, or a good product that will last him 5-10. Been there, done that.

Also, the N300s do fine as well, and are cheaper. The 600s have gigabit and are a little faster at transferring files within a network.

Tons of other choices out there.

See, you might have don well to read the entire post.

I have 3, two of them I have had for over 4 years without issue. The 3rd I just got from monoprice and has so far given me no trouble. All of them have been low end "piece of junk" adapters.

I did read your entire post, i just figured you must be insane or deficient in some manner to recommend a simple usb adapter for 40+ bucks.

Did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed or something? You usually aren't this level of rude.

What is there to break on a USB WiFi adapter? The chipset will fall off driver support well before 10 years pass. I mean, I could see the USB connector becoming physically damaged if you plug/unplug it a lot, but I don't think that's likely on a desktop.

I have seen several family members (and customers when I worked retail) complain about the Belkin USB adapter become unusable after the socket gets bent (presumably there is some contact there) and their routers needing to be reset every other day (or more).

Like I said above, the physical connector connector is about the only thing that can break on a USB adapter. To those people, I would recommend not abusing their PCs.

As for routers, that is a completely different story. A router is a full computer with operating system and everything. The hardware in a router hardly ever breaks, it's usually the extremely crappy software that's built into cheap routers which causes them to hang.

I had a belkin usb adapter that got extremely hot during use, but surprisingly never failed. I finally got rid of it due to software issues however.

Wow thanks so much for answering the question guys. Anyways I don't know what all specs you need but
I5 3570
Asrock pro series LGA 3 motherboard
Radeon HD 7870 sapphire flex graphics card. Don't think you guys need anything else. And yes I already have a router.

What about the Rosewill rk-9000re? It seems fairly cheap and I guess high quality. I don't really have the money to break the bank on a keyboard

I'd rather have a good gaming mouse (and I own that exact keyboard). I think the mouse will make a bigger difference than the keyboard for gaming--get a cheaper keyboard like the Saitek Eclipse II ($45) and couple it with a gaming mouse like the G400 ($25 used; $45 new).

Well I currently own a zalman zm m100 which I know isn't too expensive of a mouse but it fits my hand well so I think I will stick with that
