Called in sick today, went to EB Games and picked up a used Gamecube for $80 (-$30 gift voucher) and picked up Zelda. I wanted double dash or smash bro's but they didn't have either so I had to pick up FF-X2 (rebate required purchase of 2 used games). Played Zelda for a couple hours, very fun!

My list of games to play on GC (single player, for right now):
Zelda
Metroid
Smash Bros
Sunshine
Double Dash
... anything else?

F-Zero is a lot of fun but it's got a pretty steep learning curve. The game that I've played the most is NCAA Football 2004, though. I think you've got the rest of it covered pretty well.

How much are most GC games going for?
Well sunshine was like $25 and Zelda was $32 used at EB Games. I think they're on the expensive side for pre-played games... might have better prices at gamespot.

haven't played starfox, but it is suppose to be pretty decent.

i haven't really been playing my gamecube much either, though it does have some great games. my two xboxes/tvs on live in my living room are seeing the most action with rallisport 2 and project gotham 2 and the new splinter cell. i can't remember the last time i played my ps2.

Eh, FFX-2 starts out slow, but if you liked FFX and even some of the older ones, it's a good game. I kind of liked going back to the job system, and the story line while not the greatest, does have some really cool and intresting twists and turns.

I would definitely go Mario Kart over F-Zero GX... I feel like Mario Kart just has a much higher fun factor. Whereas F-Zero has the "dammit I've got to run this race over and over 20 times until I can get it exactly perfect to actually place high enough to get anywhere"

I bought FFX-2 when it was $30 at Best Buy a couple of weeks ago. I'm enjoying it, in fact I'm enjoying it more than FFX. I just restarted because I got to the end faster than I anticipated....lol

In addition to the stuff mentioned above:

If you're an RPG fan (and weren't on the Dreamcast bandwagon) Skies of Arcadia Legends is highly worthwhile.

The two Harry Potter licenses based on the movies (Sorcerer's Stone and Chamber of Secrets) are fairly decent games using Zelda-style mechanics.

Ikaruga is required for old-school shooter lovers. Unless you suck.

So, you called in sick to play video games?

Sorry, I couldn't get past that part.

no, I called in sick because I gave my 2 weeks notice and I had some extra sick days for the year that I haven't used yet. So having nothing to do the rest of the day, I went and got a cube.

IMO one of the best storylines ever for a game.
Not however the best dialogue for a game. At least not reliably. You can tell when different people wrote different dialogue. The good parts (the cop talking about the discovery of Roivas' body) and the bad parts. (The dialogue just before the final battle; so damn melodramatic)

The storyline feels very H.P. Lovecraft-ish. Frankly I don't consider that kind of horror nearly as scary as the kind of horror in Silent Hill (not 2, 1) but it is indeed a damn good story.

We also just bought a new GameCube last weekend for $69.

Any recommendations on where to get Mario Kart Double Dash for cheap ($35?) besides eBay?
